Anyone have any news on this auction which is underway?
What part about established brands preferring to use their brand name .mobi domains don't you understand?Jeff said:The FACT that there have been ZERO verified "dot Mobey" premium / generic domains "sold" at (thread topic -->) Traffic (or Sedo) to any corporate / End user(s) that are now promoting unique and compelling fully developed websites for exclusive use by those that are "on the go" ... is, or should be, EXTREMELY MEANINGFUL for all those seeking the truth about mTLD and its highly problematic extension, IMHO. :gl: :yell:
Weather.mobi was indeed offered up via the RFP process and awarded to The Weather Channel Interactive Inc. Of course you know this but disregard this fact, just like you disregard the bright orange .mobi logo on their weather.com website.Jeff said:It wasn't RFP'd ...

snoop said:Another interesting sale from the silent auction,
ringtone.mobi - $10,000
ringtones.mobi sold in November last year for $145,000
Obviously the plural is several times better though I think ringtone.mobi would have got 30-40k+ last year.
NameTrader.com said:Pretty freakin' weak IMO. A couple names I submitted I was sure would sell based on how past auctions go didn't, in general activity on a lot of domains was low, and I think overall this + the live auction were big flops. I don't fully blame Moniker - some of this is the economy taking its toll...I myself have been more careful with my money and passed up probably an easy $2500+ profit LLL.com flip opportunity because I didn't want to use up most of my savings for it "just in case" it's hard to find a buyer right now. Still, I think Moniker needs to cut the ridiculous terms they're making people agree to, cut the commission down, and figure out some way to improve the quality of what they take in and sufficiently bring buyers to these auctions. I just thought in comparison to previous Traffic silent auctions especially that this silent auction was really weak and IMO a letdown.
Reece said:I think you're talking about the LLL.com I bought over at the other forum? Have to agree -- no clue if it'll be an easy resell in today's economy. I'll keep it if not, I kinda like the name.
And yes, the terms of this auction are horrible, as were most of the sales. I feel so bad for the OW.com seller... He could have done way better selling it here (at least after you factor Moniker's commission into the picture).
NameTrader.com said:Yea, no kidding on OW.com - kind of a travesty a name like that going as low as it did in a venue like that.
I forget exactly what the name was but the LLL.com I was referring to was actually one on Sedo auction from a forumer here...he had even posted here that it was on auction and I felt so bad esp. wanting to bid but not being able to that I posted in response. It was a triple-premium that sold for only $12.5k...I couldn't believe it when I saw it. Especially factoring in commission, that's just horrible luck.
Reece said:A lot of the .coms seem to be down 25-50% in this auction, .mobi seems to be down at least 50%, probably 60-70% imho.
snoop said:I pretty much agree, would have said around a 33% down for .com's, 70-80% for the .mobi's.
Regarding ow.com I don't think it is really a cheap price in the current market. Who really wants wants to spend big on trophy names in a recession? Wrong market for it.
Reece said:If I would have had 1 month's notice (to sell some names) it was going to go for such an insanely low amount, I would have bought it.
