Hell guys
A strange request from a potential buyer for one of my domain names.
He want me to travel to his country to complete the deal face to face.
I have asked him to use Escrow services but he replied that he is not comfortable with it.
What is your feedback guys?
Thanks for all.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
It is very interesting and highly unusual. I sold a domain name years ago to Los Angeles Tourist Bureau and after escrow.com transaction, the buyer offered to buy me lunch and show me the city if I ever visit LA.

But on the other hand, eBay does attract people who are less tech savvy and liked to make unusual requests.

You surely don't want to end up in a strange dungeon of a strange man in a strange land.

If you see this when he opens the door, DO NOT go in:

I would reply to him:
''Sir, one reason why I do domaining is, that
one of it's biggest advantages is, that there is no need to travel. So let's settle the deal via SEDO (100 % safe) or forget it.”

I have already suggested Sedo escrow but he refused.
Thanks

Yes, then I would just do nothing.
If he likes the domain really, he will contact you again to settle the deal, also / especially via SEDO. He (knows for sure that he) has all payment options at SEDO, I am sure also cash will be accepted if he will visit the next SEDO office, they will not send him awayyy ;)

Work on making it clear how secure escrow is - I convince buyers otherwise all the time, one thing I always mention is that with escrow they don't release the funds to the seller until the buyer confirms they have received the domain. No way around that. If he is still hesitant, I would begin to think he isn't serious.

I do the same. Makes every buyer comfortable.

Just have someone local meet up with him to proceed with the deal. After all you can always skype your way into the meeting.

I think I know this buyer. He has lots of cash but is a little eccentric.....

Is the domain HumanTraffic.net? DungeonLife.net?

So if this was a really beautiful woman and she invited you to stay in her beach home in Los Angeles, would that make any difference?

Is the $50k offer too good to be true..is the name worth that amount. That's often the biggest clue whether its a scam or not.

You should ask him why he is hestitate to use an escrow service? Maybe he doesn't want to make official money transaction. If he wants to pay in cash you would have problems to move that kind of money between different countries. A 50k sales should be also accompanied with a sales contract. Sent him a draft and in this way you can get his details. :xf.cool:
Bitcoin is an option for something like that, when trying to cross borders with large amounts of cash.

There must be some funny business going on if he pays in greenbacks. Nobody legit does that anymore with 50k and all the laws, etc. I could imagine even declaring it fully the TSA giving the Non resident Seller quite a hassle trying to carry that Cash of LAX!

Sounds like a weird deal to me. Everyone knows most of us domains are introverted and reclusive. :)

Without having many details about the buyer it's a bad idea. If you have a friend in US ask him to talk with him and complete the deal in person for you.
