Just wondering what the general thoughts are about whether the recent trend to legalize marijuana will boost the prices of pot-related domains?

No worries on the delay; it's not so long as far as the government clock runs. Besides, it'll take them a year to figure out who will get a piece of the action. Also, if Calif and other States pass MJ this fall, it'll make it easier for Parliment to say yes.

I thought about this and I don't think it is as easy as saying it's decriminalized. Many lawyers would have to draw up new legislation, new regulations for law enforcement, social programs etc. So, I feel the best is to get it right the first time and legalize, then offer pardons retroactively for non aggravated charges. Now with Harpers bill C-10 current charges under "aggravating" circumstance is subjective, so pardons will take time.

I'm still long on this niche... good gravy, why would I give up now? I am here for the long-haul... it's gonna take 3-5 more years for any level of maturation. (Denver is STILL tweaking the rules... legalization, even Medical is an itty-bitty embryo.)
I have selected about 80% generic keyword names... mostly for real-life products, and 20% brandables.
In the meantime, I'm concentrating on affiliate sales stuff for grow cabinets & lights, pee test trickery, and am working on a seed site.
I believe that as soon as the presidential candidates are decided, there will be renewed media focus (and hype) for the MJ ballot initiatives as petition signatures and ballot verbiage are being finalized now in multiple states, most importantly California. (four states are going for recreational)
The California marijuana marketplace is already preparing and acting like legal recreational is a given, where the shift will be production will be away from the shadows of the Emerald Triangle to the cheaper real estate and less NIMBY issues of the Central Valley.
Also watch the change from Schedule one for cannabis by the DEA... they are already showing signs of cracking. Once MJ is rescheduled, watch for Pharma to jump-start scientific testing programs via Universities.

The best domains aren't selling because they are geared towards the actual plant, like @andriegel mentioned, there are other sectors of the market that do see activity. But I will agree, if you expect to turn $8 into a fortune, you better create value yourself because nobody is paying... yet.

Sadly I believe other countries will become open markets faster than the US, politicians have gotten a taste of the market demand and they won't be relinquishing control very easily without imposing absurdly high entry costs to be among the "legitimate" establishments. Aside from the utter disregard for the law, people are still going to have to appeal to the leeches.

Just because people don't see listed sales doesn't mean they are not selling.

Interest will build up going into the fall election, then another wave going into next spring as Canada legalizes. Once the US feds reschedule there will be another boom as well.

I'm in for the long haul but pretty much stopped hand regging 1.5 years ago. I'll get one here and there eg, A Canadian bio tech firm just announced they are able to make cannabinoids with yeast. So I regged 420yeast...
