Hi guys,

Just curious if any of you gets this error when using a code:

Some of our best offers are limited to one per customer and it looks like you've already used one. We've updated your cart with the best offer, if one is available.

This is what I see below the code field:

The code entered has some restrictions.

Thank you so much for your time!

1and1 allow only 5 domain registration for .99 cents after that we wanna pay normal fees

Don't know why... 1 & 1 allowed me 0.99c on only 1 .com domain reg. I kept on trying but failed!

I think they also discontinued that offer

First Brand Bucket stopped the freebie listings, then Godaddy stopped coupons, now 1and1 followed suit..

Newbies must be sharting their pants!

Why is ANYONE talking about 1&1?
Worst excuse for a business ever since Registerfly.

Because people on the previous few pages are unknowingly regn' there since this GD code turmoil. They don't know that they are in for some antacid shots and throwing your laptop across the room times later down the road. ;)

Nobody mentions here but, on elb.com .net transfers are $6.99 which is a good price I think. Do you know anything about them?

To the naysayers,

1) Couple of months ago I was able to reg 200 domains, 0.99 cents a piece. This is no more available now.

2) Couple of days ago, I emailed them I want the DNS to be changed for all domains. There is no bulk change options in their UI. It would have been difficult for me. They changed it and emailed me.

3) In another recent thread about transfers from 1 and 1, someone had mentioned he transferred 25 domains out successfully.

4) They are running an offer reg 2 and get 3rd one free, which I availed today. Working out for 5 change for a .com, best as of today. With GD DDC, it would have cost me 8 change.

5) In issues about getting invoices about renewal fee for transferred out domains, the threads are clear you need to delete the contract in which the domains are held.

6) I find the UI to be good and fast.

I have no bad experience so far, so I will continue to use.

Have you renewed a domain there yet?

Good luck to you.

Does 1&1 have an affiliate scheme? Is there a rep on the forum we can ask?

One thing that eventually everyone will learn in the domain industry is that a reputation , good or bad, is earned and not given. 1&1 has a reputation of nightmares and horror stories in dealing with them, their services, billing and so on.

As I stated in another thread, some people will not have a problem with them even tough many do.
I used a reference of using 1&1 is kind of like playing Russian roulette except with multiple rounds in the chamber. Do some Google, Bing, whatever your search engine preference is, searches for 1&1 + the word horror, nightmare, trouble, pain, etc. and you will see large numbers of people who have problems.

You have to ask yourself if gambling with your domains, money, credit rating worth gambling on?

Plus, the down side is that when you go to sell a domain, having 1&1 as the registrar can make a negative impact on the selling price of the name since many people know their reputation. Many buyers won't even want to deal with a name that is registered with 1&1.

It's a matter of choice and luck. You have to make the choice of if you want to continue to take chances and maybe be lucky or maybe not. It's your money, sanity, etc., so only you can make that choice.

A very high percentage of people who have been domain investors that are veterans in the domain world will NOT use 1&1. There is a reason for that. Like everything in life, experience and knowledge is important.

I am in no way saying 1&1 will be bad for everyone, because things go ok for some. I am saying that given their past reputation, practices, service record I for one will not use them. If you or others want to, then that's a choice each person has to make.

I am not a naysayer, I just present information that is shown across the internet so that people who haven't had that bad experience yet might learn and choose not to take a chance.

Ask some veteran domainers who have been around and know the industry well, how many domains they have at 1&1? There is a good reason why their answers are what they will be.

As we can transfer out to the owner's preferred registrar, I do not see this as a problem.

26.5k results for "1&1 sucks"

Pleas explain why there is even one microscopic upside to using them. When you find one, then please stop to realize that you're wrong.

Don't you think the content of this topic is getting a bit off topic?

It does have a negative impact in that with 1&1's reputation for all the PITA's they are known for, it will make some buyers think twice. So, it that manner it can be a problem.

It 2 different sellers have a similar name and one sell has 1&1 as the registrar & the other GoDaddy for example and the buyer isn't sure which name they want and like them equally, then the name at GoDaddy has an advantage.

You are completely misunderstanding what I am trying to say. I am not saying that you will for sure have any problems with 1&1. I am just saying that the odds of having problems with them are higher than at most registrars and THEY have earned that reputation. Nobody just gave it to the because.

The way you are fighting the obvious and completely founded facts seen across the web, it almost seems like you are working for them or are a rep of theirs or something.

People who have been in the domain business for longer know, have seen or have experienced their issues. These aren't unfounded and there are countless examples around this site and tone more around the internet.

If you choose to use them, good luck and I hope you don't have issues with them. If you don't, consider yourself one of the few who haven't and you are lucky.

As I said in my previous post, ask some domainers who are not new or fairly new about 1&1 and ask them how many names they register or buy at 1&1. Let their experience and knowledge help you.

Haven't been on namepros for a long time but tried to renew 2 domains with privacy and goddady wont budge at $65.00 Australian after much wasted time adding codes which is quite simply absurd, so I looked into namesilo and I get the same deal for $23.00 Australian, almost 1/3 of godaddy price!, obviously I'm going with namesilo and it feels good to be out of the godaddy on sell product BS which always annoyed me no end.

As for 1 & 1 domains you would have to be bat shit crazy to ever register or transfer a domain with them, even if they were free I wouldn't touch them, keep clear of that horrible company people!

Thanks for the good info on namesilo BTW.

@maxeaus, I should have done what you did way sooner. It would have saved me probably ~1K.
Anyway, happy to get rid of GoDaddy by going to a "more fair" registrar... talking about namesilo too of course.
Hopefully they will stay like this and not go into the renewal fooling around like most of the others.
Just did a few .net hand regs with them for a very good price - $4.29 / name (yes, it's a promo).

Some people feel pleasure from being abused, slapped around, tied up, and urinated on. If this is you then 1&1 is an excellent choice. If this is not you then I would avoid 1&1.

I had renewed 2 domains. Total was $30.34, I put both domains in the cart and contacted GoDaddy live chat, got 15% discount, price came down to 25.79 including Icann fees.

At least they give discounts on renewals if you ask them. If you renew 10+ domains, you can get more discount, he said.

Yes, ..........or hook up with Bob Parsons son.

The business model was good for domainers IMO when we were subsidised by other godaddy customers paying full price and loading up with suggested extra products they most likely didn't need and without the discount codes I see no reason to stay at godaddy only to become yet another mug customer, BTW who can remember the God awful slow hosting they used on their own site several years back, kind of ironic really!

1&1 still keeps trying to bill me for domains I used to have with them, even after countless attempts to work it out with support and even two BBB cases. Every few months I get another warning that my domains--which have long ago expired or been transferred--are approaching their expiration dates, or some other nonsense like that.
I guess you forgot to cancel the contract.
