:hi:

I've approached an End user (located from a Google search) with the hope of selling one of my .MOBI's (heck, I only have five!) ... and as of this time of post and after successfully establishing initial contact, I haven't heard anything back - but I'm remaining hopeful and positive! :gl:
I'll keep you posted as it evolves, as well ... :talk:

Question:

Have any of YOU folks actually sold YOUR .MOBI's ... directly to an End user(s)? :lala:

Please only post those domains, details, stories, payments, pricing, escrow, whatever you can provide, etc. HERE ... hopefully this will be a good indication of real End user interest and, for us more specifically, successful marketing techniques to same, IMHO.

PS. I'm aware that there is a VERY GOOD thread here already with End user marketing letters / tips ... in fact, I used one as a prototype for the one I send mentioned above. :music:

Thanks very kindly.

Hi Jeff,

From what I've seen, there seem to be far more domainers and sellers rather than endusers. I'm basically an enduser, having bought all my names which are unrelated to health merely as bargaining chips to acquire more health related names. :lala:

Many people -- and not just here -- but in general, have very overinflated views of what their names are worth, especially when it comes to dotmobis. For prices, as an enduser myself, I don't expect to pay more than low XXXX for any name -- since I'm not planning on reselling the names, I can't really afford to pay astronomical amounts for names, however, the size of the business the enduser has may of course result in differences of opinion here. Nevertheless, I really don't see Sony paying 20k for laptops.mobi, or nokia dropping 100k for cellphones.mobi -- even if those would presumably be somewhere around market value IMHO.

As for escrow, when someone convinces me that a name is absolutely essential to my portfolio, I expect them to pay the escrow fee. When I seek them out, checking up the whois, explaining my business idea, and asking them to sell their name, I happily pay the fee myself. I do all my purchases through escrow.com -- Sedo is way too much of a hassle, nevermind the fact that escrow is considerably cheaper :)

Best of luck with your venture!

I too am waiting for potential end users to contact me about my .mobi's.

Could be a long wait...but I'm not going anywhere!

That's the way to do it :)

I won't think about end users until about 3 years from now or more. I want this thing cranking like mad before I sell to anyone. I will develop some too.

Understood, but perhaps you should be contacting them? :talk: :imho:

Cranking like mad ... you mean the .MOBI "ecosystem"?

Yes, developing is very very good ... and your patience is admirable (though I think 3 years from now is extremely optimistic (IF it even occurs with the .MOBI adoption in the mobile internet), IMHO.

Any specific member End user .MOBI successes to share? :gl:
Thanks again.

I have sold a .mobi to an end user. They contacted me. Unfortunately I have no permission from buyer to reveal more details.

:bingo:

Now, that's good news (and certainly not surprising - for all of us that follow these .MOBI threads - coming from you, Scandi)! :tu: :music:

PS. I certainly understand the NDA's, as well ... and should have made this point more clear. Please, folks, post as many End user sales details as you can share - but do NOT do so without the Buyer's prior consent or, obviously, breach any NDA's etc. :guilty:
Thanks again.

I should ad that all the after-market names I've bought are for development so I guess that makes at least 10 more end user sales.

That's great news, I think I remember reading this here earlier ... did you contact them directly, Mj? :talk:
Congrats!

PS. Some good information here, as well! signonsandiego.com / wireless / index.html
I didn't see when U-T.mobi or Signon.mobi might be developed and up-and-running, as yet ... :gl:

Thanks for sharing!

I have sold a few to end users...

beachbody.mobi (sold to beachbody.com for $500)
The Trump organization bought 6 mobis from me for $100 each. Some were TMs, some were not. They contacted me in each case which is a good sign.

I sold 2 to end users, also to companies that forgot to register their own name. Both for mid $x,xxx. I can't say much more about it either.

It looks like the word about dotmobi didn't reach everyone last year, but now more and more sites are being developed other companies are looking to get theirs too.

I think it's just a matter of time before the marketing people wake up (they are always a little slow :gl: ) and the generic names start to get developed (and sold).

My one End user potential finally replied, "Don't think it's for us!" :'(

Any other verified .MOBI sales directly to End user success stories? :talk:
Thanks again.

I sold Discgolf.mobi at Sedo. The buyer was DiscGolf.com.

As far as selling to end users it's tough with any domain unless they are seeking you. The more names and the more times you try the better your success rate but I have never had luck in direct sales and gave up.
