I recently (as of 2 days ago) started my wife a wordpress blog to help her relieve stress from her daily life enduced by her mother and mother-in-law. She really enjoyed writing her first blog and she thinks that this will help her.

Assuming it starts getting traffic some time in the future (I will say 6 months to a year from now), when would the pros start placing ads on the site? What company should I use, ie Google, yahoo....

Also, is there any other information that you think I may need to know, please feel free to direct me to another thread.

The site is www.naggingmothers.com.

I did a search on google for Nagging Mothers and it found it after less than 24 hours of her posting her first blog (3rd page, half way down). Granted without quotes there are only like 500,000 results and with quotes there are only 3700 results...I am still happy!!

Thanks Guys and gals!

Eric

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

Right now. It's a pain to get it fully setup so you are eligible to receive payments.

I think owning an adsense account is pretty much standard on Namepros lol

make sure she submits her posts on sites like delicious and digg!

It really depends on quality of content and whether you want people to link you naturally. I usually just put ads up on day one. The search engines don't care either way.

Where the ads set you back is if you want some other webmaster to link your site they may chose not to because of advertisements. Its easier to convince someone to send you a link if your site isn't for profit. If you're not planning on actively building links through communication with other webmasters, put up ads from day one, there's no good reason not to.

How do you find webmasters that like to link to your sites?

I would create an AdSense account, and place the ads within the content so that the user feel it is part of it.

AdSense works pretty well. One of my sites made $25 in a couple of days.

Don't forget to promote your site as well. It's all about TRAFFIC.

Good luck

My point was there is a stigma against linking to sites that are ad heavy. One of the SEO tricks I've read about is to put a good link on your site to an authority site. The theory bieng that if your site links to an authority on the subject its about search engines understand that the pages are related and it effects your ranking. If your site becomes an authority for any one subject and becomes popular people will link you naturally. Its in their best interest. You don't find them they find you.

Try to monetize site by keeping adsense ads or stuffs and invite all your friends and family members to visit your wife's blog often.
