Had to put my cat to sleep

I knew this day was coming, but i was hoping that the vet would say that they could help. My cat Isis (now you know where my nickname comes from) started getting sick two weeks ago. Her right eye was completely covered by her 3rd eyelid. She was also very congested.

I took her to the vet, they gave me some antibiotics and told me to just keep an eye on her. But last saturday she took a turn for the worse . She could walk without falling and her congestion went to her chest. The doctor thinks that she had a brain tumor, i just couldn't see her suffer like that. She said the only thing she could do was recommend me to a neurologist...and maybe have an mri done...but i figured that even if i did those things there wouldn't have been much they could have done for her.

But it tell you, it was the hardest thing i ever had to do. Even though I knew this was the end, when the vet asked me what I wanted to do it was very hard not to get emotional. She was my favorite cat. I got her when I got married 8 years ago, so she was pretty young. I've had cats live to be 15, 16, and 17 years old...so i my book, she was very young.

She was an ocicat...and if you guys ever get a chance to get a cat, I recommend ocicats. they have the best temperaments imo.

Oh what a cute little thing she was. I am so sorry for your loss Isis. May you be comforted by the fact that you were her best friend for 8 years and her spirit will be with you. I've taken a kinder liking to cats over the last year or so and if I ever get one I will look for an ocicat type. Sorry again, and thanks for sharing with this post. Peace be with you friend.

im very sorry to hear your loss, nothing can replace her, she's unique.

i feel for you as well, i also have pets in my house and i treat them as humans sometimes better than a friend and this reminded me to do good things to them while they're alive spoil them a little bit, once they're gone you have nothing to do for them anymore.

Isis (and Gene) I'm so sorry for your loss. It's so hard to say goodbye to a beloved family member, even when you know it's the best thing you can do for them. My thoughts and sincere condolences are with you both.

I'll be facing this again myself all too soon - I just found out a few days ago that my oldest cat (15.5) has an inoperable tumor in her mouth. It appeared rather quickly - never a good sign ...

Sorry to hear that. My mum had to put our cat to sleep a few years ago, and it was especially hard for me because we got the cat when I was born, so I grew up with him. It was very hard adjusting to a cat-free house.
