When is a blog or forum a better option?

I plan to develope a handful of sites and integrate advert/adsense. For example I have a name with back-links that gets a decent amount of traffic. While I could do okay with ppc income I want people to come back. I aquired it to use in part for marketing purposes.

I thought perhaps a news site with a forum connected? What have others done? I have a very topical name that I would like to run with and would rather it not be a generic ppc landing site.

From what I've read, forums are NOT good for adsense...you should definetly have a blog connected to it.

it all depand on the name if the forum will fit , forum is lil bit fast solution for some one who dont want to spend time dev, blog same thing , but i prefer forum then blogs

I like FORUMS. Blogs are too meagre for revenue generation. In a forum, you can maximise revenue. Also forums are good if you have numerous sections.

Thanks for the advice. For the name I have and the 650 uniques I get a month. I thought forum. I had wondered how to integrate in news, ad sense and adverts without being too much. I am dealing with a very International audience, but well to do. It also seems there is no forum for this community, so it is a bit of a niche I am trying to fill.

for that traffic , FORUM FORUM FORUM , it will even rise up with forum , and you will get Se's attension with many forum categories...

Thats what I had thought as well. My instincts pulled me in this direction, as creating a niche when there is none, and the back links that are already in place--I knew ppc parking page was a short term solution.

Can you recommend a good template, perhaps similar to the Ketucky Tv site you have. Mine would be completely different but with all the different categories, forum, polls, adsense and adverts. The layout would be similar though.
