all outbound.
my view is for whatever price domain is sold , seller can still get his /her desird amount,
even if appraised value is low , but if buyer wants domain , they will pay your quoted price. not applicable particularly for this domain but in general.
no hard feelings for anyone.
Nice. Can you shed more light on your approach? How many people did you approach? Did you include your asking price? Any followups?

generally i get leads from first 5 -6 pages of google results. contacting them for domain, most of the times i dont quote prices. will folow up 2 times . generally in this time frame , if someone is interested in domain , they will reply back . most of the time with price . " i can pay max xxx usd for this domain".. in this way you have to send 100-150 emails from your mail account. 99% of them wont reply. only hope will get you the deal.
have to increase sales so i accept low ball offers. i will let domain go mostly with the buyers offer as i need cash to renew domains. i mostly want to see my babies grow , compete and fight in internet water cables ranging from diff continents to diff ones ,so i accept low ball offers instead of letting them sit in domain account.
also use (site:keyword.* ) in google for getting name of sites starting with your keyword..then whois info and send an outbound mail.
use leandomainsearch to find which domains are registered with your domain keyword. they will give you 5000 results in free version. whois domain name ownership and send an outbound mail.
all these are long methods but required if you need sales for 5 domains out of 100 domains.
all domains hand reg,

also if you have money , you can buy expiring domains in godaddy and wait for the buyer to contact you to get back his domain. they will pay the good price. this model is successful and most of big "purch" sales are the examples. taking money this way is either ethical or not. u decide.

@barybadrinath Great to see someone who is hard working on outbound (y)
I recommend this tool to find registered domains with keyword search:
namedroppers.com
Wish you a successful year!:xf.smile:

namedroppers will give 50 results. its also a nice tool.
main problem comes during whois search. for finding every whois , need to insert captcha and generally email info wont come in whois result. i use whois.com
have to use then who.godaddy.com.
also most of the time gmail will suspend outgoing mails , sometimes for days.

Register a domain on alpnames for your portfolio website and you can get a free personalized email there.

Thanks so much for your points. But most of the time whois will return a privacy email. What do you do at this point, who do you contact?

I usually use Whois as a last resort when doing outbound, since that information will typically only bring you to the decision-maker of a small company (or if the site is owned by an individual).

When looking for a contact, I usually do the following:
  • Visit the "About us" page on the company's site
  • Look for a "Meet our team" or "Leadership" list/page
  • Find the name of the Marketing director or brand/corporate development director (or CEO of a smaller company)
  • If an email is not listed for them, start plugging possible email combinations into MailTester.com. Most popular email formats tend to be [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected]
  • If mailtester returns no results, or email server does not allow verification, search the person's name + company + email; see if any Google results return the email.
  • Occasionally you may find some other ideas of email formats on RocketReach or other similar sites, or by finding listed emails of other company employees.
  • If you still come up short, try the Whois info contact.
  • If Whois is private, as an ultimate last resort, use the "info" email or contact form listed on the company's contact page (response rate is extrememly low if this is your only option).
You have to be diligent about finding the contact info of people who can make the decision to buy a domain, but it is worthwhile to do it. It's important to note that if you're going to be taking up these people's valuable time, your domain name had better be worthwhile for their company. :)
