I was looking for this thread, and didn't see this question asked since 2006. So, I was curious, unless you have managed to make domaining your day job, what do you do?

I am a graphic artist by trade. I started out in drafting, but found it not creative enough. I also spent 16 years in the military, but was medically discharged after some injuries (3 combat tours will do that). I now run Video Teleconferencing and conferences. I also design things on Society6 and Cafepress as a side gig.

I'm an astronaut, Jedi warrior, Formula 1 driver, Rally car driver, professional surfer, porn star, president, hollywood movie star, ...it all depends on what psychedelics I have taken on the particular day

Well, being that you all have such awesome jobs, I was going to leave out my cryptozoology career so I didn't make anyone jealous, but...

How long did it take to make this full time?

Almost right away as I started to sell some .COM names that I have owned for more than a decade. Some months is really good and some are not, so I'm happy that my wife has a local tour business that can help when business is slow.

My income was better when I lived off my travel related websites 2003 - 2013, but I'm kind of stubborn, so my goal is to have the same income again after five years of domaining. I am about half way there, both in time and money.

SEO manager (agency), SEO and ppc campaign management for my own clients, and I run a few sites of my own (some for fun, some for profit, some for research.)
(And before ya'll assume that means I send annoying "get you page one Google" emails and build spammy links, it's more like analyzing data, solving problems, fixing things, sitting in client meetings and writing reports. :) . If we don't prove that we get results, we lose a client.)
