My latest boss and I had a constant battle of wits going.. she wanted me to work more hours and I wanted to stay with the schedule I had. She wanted me to work 5 days of her choice and, again, I wanted to keep the schedule I had (Sat-Mon off). She wanted me to float and learn other positions and I wanted to keep the position I was hired for. Everytime she'd push me to do something along these lines, I'd stand up to her and refuse and she characterized me as, shal we say, "difficult". Still, she went out of her way normally to be sure I didn't quit and I actually thought we'd started to get along.. until the other night..
A co-worker friend of mine dropped by after work and told me our boss had approached him about taking some of my hours later this month as she wanted to cut my schedule and eventually phase me out because I wasn't playing ball. Because I'd basically been running the shift for the last 4 years through a dozen different managers, I was a little upset. Everytime we get a new manager, they want to change the world.
Anyway, I decided to quit... and because she'd gone behind my back, I quit without notice. Knowing she was short the only other trained closer this whole week. Sorry, but she made me mad..
Emailed the district manager and explained the situation and she said she'd discuss it with my former boss and thanked me for letting her know the situation. So, at present, I'm kinda in a holding pattern.. don't really want to go back to that mess but curious to see if the DM will straighten things out as it's certainly in her best interest to do so.
When you have the asst managers coming to me (a crewmember) and asking how to do things, it's a little upsetting. :p They used me to train other crew and yet I hadn't had anything but adjustment raises in two years.
So, I'm gonna sit out the rest of this week and relax.. I have enough to pay my bills for September. Next week, I'll see what I can do about a job.. preferably in another field.
Meanwhile, I'll see what I can make online money-wise.
I was a little upset with my friend too.. I told him that if the situation had been reversed and she'd offered me HIS hours, I would have said "no, thanks".. funny thing is, I was the one who suggested he come back to work there..
