I'm not sure how anybody could group .biz and .name with .pro. .name isn't commercial and is irrelevant. .biz is a made up phone text language message extension and was never going to work from the start.
We are discussing this on NamePRO's aren't we? It's not an accident that pro came along for the ride with the generic keyword, it was added to make the keyword sound more credible and legitimate and appeal to enthusiasts.
People love the word Pro, it's internationally recognised, and it will work as soon as the registration restrictions are removed and reg fees come down. When that happens is anybody's guess but when it does, there will be a belated landrush because it's commercially brandable and makes sense.
The 3 letters pro gets added before and after generic keywords on developed sites more than any other 2 or 3 letter extension, including com.
I think all alternative extensions will continue to rise in 2008 because Internet usage is decades away from maxing out, acceptance of alternative extensions is very slowly gaining momentum but the domains have got to pack a punch in terms of brandability and goodness of fit with their extension to provide decent value versus equivalent priced 2 or 3 word .coms.
