What were you doing one year ago? (DotMobi)
-------
I think I had expected landrush to occur actually a month or so before September 26th (pushed back)
About one year ago, I was sitting in a car outside subway..
And called a childhood friend of mine to be like a weightlifting partner to pre reg dot mobi names..
back then, pre-landrush, was like a lottery.. so each register accredited had their own procedure.. then on September 26th 10 am EST we saw who got what.. it was so exciting.. it was a like a horse race.. I called it the run for the roses..
I had heard of .mobi first from the ceo of moniker's podcast many months ago.. then, months later, didn't realize that some of the registrars had already begun taking pre reg's.. I was big on some.. that didn't do to well.. but since I was a domainer since january 1999, I had learned that pool.com had some type of proprietary software for grabbing names and they, frankly, kicked butt.. so did dotster..
also even moniker last second reg the night before I had put a name in and it was the first name I saw I got..
Like the thrill of regging dot mobis, this was like the biggest roller coaster at 10 am on september 26th when my childhoold friend on YIM voice and I were checking that whois to see who got what.. I audio recorded the thrill..
I didn't have cash for the pool.com auctions, like, I was in islam.mobi, africa.mobi, all went fairly cheap.. I chose to use my cash left to reg more in the coming days, rather than save for non-guaranteed auction results held later..
Actually the first name that ever came into my mind that I wanted was japanesefood.mobi (outside the subway).. and I got it.. the recent winner of the SEDO auction, where I goofed by putting it up, did not pay; so, I still have it at a flowers.mobi price of $200,000 (please let me not have the rat race!)
hehehe
love to love
Kind Regards,
Yelo
