What makes a .NET and .ORG have value?

When you're looking at .net and .org names that are available for registration... how do you decide if it has any value beyond reg fee?

For example... dogbowls.org or flashdrives.org or diningtables.net...

Would those names have resale value? And if yes, then why? Is it because they're only two word phrases? Is it the number of searches for those terms? Is it because several TLD's are taken?

Any help answering this is GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks,
ez

if the domain matches its extension then there's a better chance that its value is beyond reg fee. as with other generally accepted beliefs, a shorter domain is preferable, and if the .com version is developed and active then that helps too.

Thank you for your response. I'm still not clear enough on it though. The domains I listed as examples... would they be worth anything, as they don't really match their extention.

I buy to develop. I assume no typein traffic and that all my visitors will come from search. I don't think most people even look at the domain name, much less the extension, when they click. So, while I will take a dot com if I can get it, I will also take .net, .org, .info to get the keywords I want.
