Let's say Computer.com and Computer.net is taken but computer.org is available will it have any value?

And what if both the .org and .us are available. Which is more valuable.

.US domains.US domains
Personally, I tend to use a rough sort of calculation that is a little like:

If a .com is worth:
§1000
then:
.net §250
.org §75
.info §50
.de/.co.uk/.us §40
.mobi §30
.cc §20
.biz §10
.name §1

But obviously some words will go better with some extensions that others, and the values of .info, .us and .mobi have been increasing faster than .net for example, so this model gets out-of-date quickly and needs revising often.

I do only tend to think like this when buying, and often names seem overpriced and I end up ignoring them.

My rough shot would be 1/10th of the value of .com but it would depend on the name. Some keywords fit the TLD better than others.
The .org TLD is great and actually it's even less restrictive than .net. As long as your domain is non profit related the TLD fits nicely. And needless to say it's a respected and well-established ext.

.us is more restrictive but it depends on your purpose. Even though .org is more established globally a domain should always fit the TLD.

although many members of this forum tend to believe that .org should be used for non-profit orginizations, I dont believe it. I see a lot of sites these days in the .org ext and most of them are not non-profits. It is a very well known ext and people use it. If you like the name, dont let the .org ext discourage you. Of course it wont be worth the same as the com or net. it is still a good tld.

Agree with kubativity. :)

A very nice gentleman contacted me for my single-word xxxxxx.org domain name ... he is the CEO of a non-profit agency / health-care related in Boston, MA. He said, because his entity is a non-profit -and- their current domain name & website is xxxxxxhealth.org, that I should sell it to them for low $XXX! I told him, very politely, that I could not relinquish it for a mere $XXX (it cost me high $XX years ago). After doing some further research on the very profitable entity, I am remaining firm at $2,500.00 ... and lots of my "regional/local" .ORG's get great, qualified traffic, as well! :music:

I like the .ORG's much, very much! :imho:

good on you, blue cross / blue shield are "non-profits", you should see what their executives get paid, if it was some "mothers against childhood cancers" out-of-their-garage kind of deal i could see their point, but health care ? no way, even the non-profits live pretty high off the hog
