I like .org more than .net, I can't help it.

I really like .org names that fit the extension so much better than .net names. I realize .net sells for a lot more than .org so if someone was giving me a name for free of course I would take it in the .net for the resale value, but I would definately want to sell it.

Whenever I see a .net name I can't help but think the owner could not afford the .com. However when I see the .org, I don't get that feeling. For some reason it just seems to carry a bit of credibility.

Am I the only one that thinks that way? :D

I agree with you there.

Also, it may just be me, but I tend to give .ORG sites more credibility than .NET sites. I've also heard that Google shows some sort of favor to .ORG names.

Have you ever noticed the price gap between three-letter .NET and three-letter .ORG names? It can't really find out how to justify it. If you ask me, LLL .orgs should be just as valuable -- if not, more so -- than LLL .nets. :imho:

If you all don't like .net domains and like to sell them asap, just PM me your lowest prices.

I think its because its pretty much the only extention thats used for its purpose. For organizations(non-profits use it a LOT). Thats why you dont see many big sales because its hard to sell a domain for a high price to a non-profit organization.

Also .nets are pretty much the cheap mans .com. If you really think about it in a perfect world MySpace.com should be MySpace.net!

The lowest price would be $0, because I currently don't have any. The only way I would purchase one is if I saw it going for auction cheap and I new I could flip it. I don't think I would ever develop one. I can't see doing all that work to give the .com owner extra traffic.

i like org too like that- Cancer.org sounds better than cancer.net and you "have the feeling" the org is a place to help you about cancer. i agree too.

These threads amaze me. I mean, I love .org as well but for some reason, even with all these people that like them, they still do not sell on the forums... One day the rest will wake up and notice all the .org's on search engines are ranking higher then .com's and almost always higher then .net's.

No, not at all. That's a common perception of .NET, as well as .INFO, .US and especially .BIZ.

.ORG is widely used by big corporations, frequently advertised in the mainstream media, and garners more respect among Internet users than all of those other extensions. It really is an under-valued namespace among domain resellers.

But like you said, the name should fit the extension.

does anyone remember that .org a member here sold for about $12.5k i think.

it was a one word .org in past tense. although quite nice, most of us would have paid 100 max.
he coaught on snap and an enduser bought and paid for on sedo. trying to remember the domain. he started a tread in discussion, was very pleased for him but need to find the name for an example

cheers to anyone who remebers

Not necessarily. Depending on the situation. I have no probs with a .net, as from a consumer pov, I believe they more associate .net with a commercial site, than they would a .org. And if a .com is just a useless parked page, and the domain name is relative to what you do, then I say take advantage of the situation. I have a few .net sites that are #1, or close to, on Google and Yahoo, as I developed the name out, and the .com does nothing (parked)! An example is our CheckImaging.net. Google or Yahoo the term 'check imaging', no '.com' in site, and who is on top??!! And any lost type-in traffic, is quickly rectified in their next attempt!

And if the .com term is owned by renowned parkers, there's almost no chance it'll get developed out to compete against one's .net version in the near future! Works for us.

However we do like .orgs too! One reason we just acquired SingleWomen.org, and SingleMen.org!!

Not sure of that one, but I sold a .org for $13.5K, and to a 'non-profit' too!

I REALLY like dot org as well. Probably better than dot net, though it depends a bit on the name. If both are available, I will often take the dot org because it doesn't seem to be second fiddle to dot com necessarily.

Call me crazy, but I'm not sure that dot info isn't the 2nd best for some names (including Geo Domains, etc.). Just my opinion.

I think the same too.
.net has too often been the fallback extension when you couldn't get the .com while .org does not suffer from the same stigma.

I love .org as well, and I sold some .ORGs in low $1k - $2k range.

Now I only have 1 .org left which is 01.org, fits the extension?
