What is Parking and what does it do?

Ok.. so i admit that i am TOTALLY new to the world of domains and etc... so i would so totally love if people were to explain what domain parking is, how it helps? and how to park a domain, plus how does a parked domain recieve traffic. etc... will gladly appreciate it!

I am also new to this, When you say the Parked Domains also may recieve traffic from links in search engines--does this mean that the domains on my signiture at the bottom are now in search engines,, if i put a name for sale on Ebay--does that name become a link somewhere in search engines, or in another forum or if i can put it on somebody's website???? Each time a parked page domain is on an address on the internet (a website) in enters into the search engines??? Is that right?? If this is so, then does that mean that your website link would be in google results?? Does Link=Keyword? the more your link is in search engines the more Rank you get?? On your Website--would you make Keywords Hyperlinks--to further enter into search engines and by doing so--increase your websites rank??? Thank you.....
