Ah, the infamous premium domain names. These do not carry the normal registration costs as non-premium domain times. Previous to enom securing the right to market the .tv domain name database, the .tv corporation owned the rights. .tv corporation went through the entire database and identified several keyword names that they felt warranted higher initial and subsequent reg fees. For example, I picked up a keyword .tv and it costs $2000 per year. For some time, .tv ran some seriously deep discounts to promote the extension, but these were stopped the rights to market .tv were transferred to enom.
One important thing to note is the fact that many of us found several available names that were not labeled keyword domains that we felt should have been. Shocked, we shared the news with others. Guess what, they began pinging .tv to see what other words they could find available which should have been marked keyword but weren't. Some times keyword asking prices are way too high, like news.TV which was like $1M per year.
Anyway, I am rambling now...let me know if that helps to understand some of the history.
