I went to sleep the other night and when I woke up there was a sales notice from Dynadot stating a name had sold via their inhouse marketplace, I then went to another email address only to discover that the same name had sold on Sedo. The domain instantly changed accounts at dynadot as far as I can work out and I told sedo this. Sedo have now sent me an invoice for lost commission
(Only the minimum amount but aren't they an non exclusive sales platform?)
So what are your views on this situation? Not the end of the world but I am wondering if this has happened to other members here on Namepros?

The link below seems to indicate sedo are not an exclusive marketplace

This is not a review, no reason to move this thread thanks

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

I think this provides all the proof you need that you should never have the same domain for sale at Buy Now prices at more than 1 location.

If you want to continue to use Sedo in the future, I think you probably will need to pay their commission, if they are asking for it.

Well to pay them is the only way to continue to use their site, although the link I provided refers to exclusive once an auction starts, unless I missed something about stagnant listings. Quote from the link

Pleased to say I got a notice that Sedo decided to cancel the invoice, so some goodwill does exist. Thanks Sedo

Congrats.

Yep. You can list at other venues. But you should only have Buy Now pricing at 1 venue. In order to avoid incidents like this from happening in the future. Next time you might not be so lucky.

I feel like this is such a rare occurance, and considering domains are more likely to sell at BIN price to avoid negotiation, I do not see why that is a bad thing to do. Feel free to correct me if i am wrong though.

And congrats on the sale, @DnEbook!

These are rare occurrences. But if you have to untangle the mess that selling a domain at two different venues at the same time. I think you will never list a domain again at BIN in more than 1 venue. You can get banned from the venue where you don't complete the sale.

To be honest I actually think it may have been the same buyer making sure he/she did not miss out on the name? The Bin price is undoubtedly the best option but when this happens ....umm

I did ask for them to point out where the "exclusive clause was?" This was all on top of my phone dying and me not being able to receive a call from Godaddy Premier Services to verbally approve another sale via Sedo ..... They say "it doesn't rain but it pours" sometimes, one of those times it seems. Cheers!

I bought a domain that was listed on flippa as buy now and just for the heck of it I checked sedo and godaddy. I found it 600 bucks cheaper on godaddy and it was set as buy now.

I am the new owner but the guy selling it made a number of mistakes. He already had me on flippa, very unfortunate he listed cheaper on godaddy because he is now out 600 bucks.

This. I almost made a similar mistake a year ago. I list all with undeveloped only now.

yes.. they probably mean makeoffer only.. or they mean yuo may list them, but not sell them :)

no site is really non exclusive.. and if it sells, you are expected to complete sale.

like others said, this is rare.

but good thing they let you go. usually its not so easy.

Or you can just forward the domain to a sales listing, but yes commissery

You would get more exposure if you listed at other non-exclusive domain sellers. Just only have the BIN at 1 venue.

That makes this statement a bit vague then. Perhaps they should expand on this a little.

Or make your own landers and only have offers at marketplaces, hey we deserve some cash! We do work for it sometimes.
