I'm not really looking for an appraisal... so I'm not posting in that forum. This is more of an "in general" kind of post to quell my curiosity.

I purchased and parked a domain name on 6-06-05. The reason I picked it up was because it had a Marketleap linkpop of 232 - I parked the name at Sedo to see what kind of traffic is would get and for the month of June (minus 1-6) the name got 5,632 uniques.

Also, at the time I regged the name, I found the .com, .net, and .org to be available... so I regged those too. No traffic on those, but I thought It couldn't hurt to pick them up.

I'm going to leave it parked for another month or 2 to make sure the traffic is consistant.

I don't oft deal in high traffic names, so please help me determine the possible value of a domain with this traffic.

Thank you
Jennifer

5,632 uniques at Sedo for the entire month of June (from 6/6/05 to just ending earlier this evening, 6/30 GMT)? That is surely more than I have ever received there (though I did have one domain that received just over 25% of this figure once). :gl:

Based on this, in part ... and wholy "in general" without knowing the domain name, etc. I would say ~ $2,250 - $3,875+/+, IMHO. :talk:
It's not an exact science, particularly with respect to potential sales to future unknown End users, naturally.

All the best, Jennifer!

Jeff, could you explain your method to apparaise between $2250 and $3875... It could be really interesting I'm sure.

If I had a so high traffic domain, I take the monthly revenue when parked and multiply by 16 or 24 months. Is that correct ? With 6000 uniques, I can hope 25% clickthrough maybe.. 1500 clicks so, with a bad average $0.07 by click, it's $105 by month, and multiply by 24 months, it's ~$2,520

So what do you think about my method ? :D

Jennifer, I'm curious but you said .com/.net/.org was available, so which extension has the main domain ?...

Definately a good catch to get the .com/net/org as well. It will give you an overall increase in value if you ever decide to sell them. Hard to tell what the overall value is but in the ballpark of $2k sounds like a fair estimate.

Thank you very much for the responses. FYI the extension with the traffic happens to be the .us extension :)
