What am I missing???

Okay, so I know I'm a "newbie" with "no experience" but I gotta ask, what am I missing?

For the price of a single, random NLLLL.com (in this case P3798.com), I instead purchased the following premium .guide domains:

• Truck.guide
• Drone.guide
• SUV.guide
• ATV.guide
• Art.guide

Can anyone honestly say with a straight face that a random LNNNN.com would be a better investment than a single one of the .guide domains above, let alone all five of them?

Stay away from the new extensions, you will end up renewing year after year and eventually they will expire

Sure, many many crappy names are registered and dropped, but it's far from these figures.

Its probably more than 99% actually, if you look at how many have been regged and how many have sold at the moment?? and those stats will get even worse when domainers realize where these extensions always end up.

Let me know if you want the stats of how many new ext names have been regged, bare in mind, most domainers dont have the premium keywords as most are reserved by the registry, so most are just average keywords or random 2 word domains...and then compare that to the sales so far?

It seems like the drop rate is about 20 - 65%, depending on gTLD. The ones who gave away free (or almost free) names will obviously "suffer" most, just like .INFO once did.

And, new gTLDs are selling all the time...

Still, there are many people that are registering crappy names that never will sell and these will probably get dropped. People should always do some research first. If the dot com, dot net and .org alternative is available, you should probably stay away from the corresponding new gtld...

Still I think that "Bestcardeals .com" is a better domain than "Bestcar .deals". But I also think that a domain like "Night .club" in the future will be considered good as "Nightclub .com" (or even better!)

Not now obviously, the extension are brand new and new domainers are jumping on the bandwagon, thats why I said in a year or 2, watch how many drop even this time next year though, a year a is a long time in domaining.

No offense, but this has been discussed so many times, there are always sales like this when new extensions are launched, then the sales die down and all the names get dropped

This happened .co, .mobi, .me and all the other extensions that were launched as well

.XYZ and .CLUB will soon be 2 years old and it is not until very recent months you can see a drastic increase in aftermarket sales. But ok, maybe we should give them a 5 year total, before we draw certain conclusions. Still they have time to "fail" or "succeed".

Yes. In a few years certain exact-match gTLD names will be considered as good, if not better than the longer .com variant.

Night.Club is a perfect example of one of those exact-match, brandable domain names.

Correct. Avoid random and meaningless combinations between the left side & right side of the dot.

Agreed, there are way too many options and only a few combinations are actually worth money.

Of course it depends on what names you own, just as with any extension.

At the moment I'm getting far more offers for my new gTLDs than for my .COMs. The main reason for that is that I do not list any LLLLs' for sale. My new gTLDs are generally better than my .COMs. However, I will try to improve my .COM portfolio in 2016. .COM is the greatest extension by far, at least from a commercial standpoint. I don't prefer either or, I like both. As long as the domain itself is good.

Your offers will be from other new domainers though..thats not really showing the potential or future of an extension..its just showing there are plenty of new domainers on NP

If you were getting getting x,xxx offers and there were were constant end user sales with these extensions, I would certainly reconsider my standpoint on this...but its not happening
