I have 5 landrush auctions at Sedo. The results will give us a much better understanding of where we are vs 2007 in terms of .mobi valuations.

It's been a long time since I've seen really premium names on SEDO. My expectation is that we are approximately 60-75% of last year on premium landrush names.

Why am I selling?

I am going to put the money directly from the auction into the US stock market. Call me nuts, but I see the biggest opportunity for short term (1 year) gain in the DOW/NASDAQ index funds!

LET'S SEE WHAT THE .MOBI MARKET REALLY IS ALL ABOUT:

antigua.mobi
trinidad.mobi
condominiums.mobi
vehicles.mobi
vet.mobi

All the best, now is not the right time for sure.

Wait till the US presidential election ended, as activities by government will be quiet like a desert after election.

Likely the stock market will drop further after the presidential election. The worst is yet to come.

It best to prepare the money for further unexpected needs. :$: :$:

Good move imho. But you were such a hold guy last year. Do regret not selling more of these names a year ago when some may have fetched $xx,xxx?

Btw...I just placed a bid on vet.mobi. :)

With all due respect Jeremy, a few sales will not determine the overall hold on the marketplace. This is prob the worst time to sell IMHO (unless you reach an enduser).

Sorry Lab, just outbid you on principle ;)

labrocca, no regrets. While I feel that .mobi has a significant future, I am making more immediate decisions. I am cost averaging down my position in the US markets! :)

You could very well be right. I believe MTLD held and good landrush names have fared better than most people think.

Nevermind my post - mistook "landrush" for mTLD released premiums...I assume these 5 have no development requirements by mTLD?

I think you'll do well with the the names on auction. Quality cannot be denied!

NameTrader.com said:
I hate to say this, but if those are landrush, don't they have a date by which they're supposed to be developed, and shouldn't you have that in the auctions? I know with our 1 landrush, while dotMobi gave an extension, we still have a deadline for development (January).
No. Only Mtld premiums require dev. Landrush purchases have no strings attached.

I don't know much about the stock market but it would seem that now is the time to buy. I thought I seen something on cnn saying that warren buffet published something saying now is the time to invest in the market.

If you have lots of faith in the .mobi market, why not wait until after the big Sedo auction on November 5-12? I'm sure plenty of .mobi investors will have renewed confidence in .mobi IF results are good then.

Maybe because the buyers will be broke after the premium auction.
Best to get their money now ;)

RESULTS:

Trinidad.mobi - $951
Antigua.mobi - $1,470
Vet.mobi - $510
Condominiums.mobi - $500
Vehicles.mobi - $960

Overall, I'm not thrilled... not too bad either.

I believe this is a big discount from last year, but, all in all, this market is viable.

And, that brings me to a major announcement... tomorrow.

LET'S SEE WHAT THE .MOBI MARKET REALLY IS ALL about:

Hmm..well judging by these low sales figures I would say you have done 1/5 or worse of the sales you might have made about a year ago. vet.mobi should have fetched $1200+ imho. $510 is very low for that name.

I think the prices are reasonable overall but they are just so much lower than what you could have gotten had you sold instead of hold. Are you still going to continue to preach hold when you yourself are selling?

In two years $510 for vet.mobi might be a real high sale.

It's all still good profit though and congrats.

I agree, these prices are pretty disappointing to see. I have some great mobi's and sometimes wish i would have sold them in late 2006. However, since that opportunity has passed I'm holding until the mobile web blows up. Either they'll be worth a lot more or almost nothing but I'm willing to take the chance. There is no way I'd be selling now unless I was in great need of the money.

VET.MOBI at $510 was an outstanding deal.

I am selling about 50% of my portfolio. I am holding 50%.

I believe in .MOBI and invested 6-figures in .MOBI.

I'll tell you this... no matter what happens, I don't look back. Leave money on the table, don't look back. Make a killing, don't look back. Either way.

In 5 years, when .mobi is the center of the mobile universe, will I look back?

Yes. ;)
