Im betting big bucks on VR domains have a great future and with the big boys buying up VR companies, mainstream is a stones throw away.....

Lots of VR+keyword.com taken years ago and I noticed this sale a week or so back -

VRTechnology.com $3688

This was a steel and I can soon see everything from VRPoker / VRCasinos / VRShopping / VRBrowsing / VRTours / VRWorlds / etc etc....having a high price tag even now at the start of VR hitting mainstream...

I have just paid $x,xxx for a name but will not be showcasing as the domain is in escrow at present....

Feel free to showcase your VR domains If you like...

Cheers

will it be necessary to register all these Vr, Ar names, look at oculus, vive, gear etc even Pokemon go... Not one of these have Vr or ar in the title. Anybody else agree?

The Gear VR doesn't have VR in the title?? And I don't know why you put .etc after you listed 3 headsets (including one which certainly does have vr in the title) as just about every other one, including the likely biggest selling - the Playstation VR - does have VR in their official title.

So no I don't agree, you can't base a valuation of VR names in general on the basis of two major headsets not having VR in their name. But the examples given might suggest that VR names will have most worth when a VR service or product can be promoted through them and where a non vr product or service already exists. i.e playstation - playstationVR, boxing - boxingVR, shopping - shoppingVR, cams - camsVR etc

Considering Zuckerberg quoted 10 years for VR to be totally mainstream, I feel you should be planning ahead for 5 years worth of renewals at a bare minimum. It's another good reason to focus on quality over quantity.

10 Years from now in 2026 everyone in this thread would be considered "early adopters" of VR domains and the newbs would be salivating over vrHeadgearsStore.com valued at low $x,xxx.

Too Little, To Late & To much money !
If they can't launch a small "3D 360" "action/sports" cam under $900 in the next year, they are finished with VR cams before it has started. Several others have and more to come.
That cam is very nice res 360, but no 3D needed for immersion. Costs way to much (6x gopro cam+)
and is to big to use in the market they created.

They should understand this more than anyone since they showed a market in action/sports cams that nobody knew was there. And it seems everyone else was paying closer attention to that fact.
No matter their blunders, VR cams will be a big thing NEXT YEAR around x-mas.

I have vrGender in king. Like you say, seems like a use that will actually be used in VR, whether for real analysis of situations, or for fun and entertainment.
It's already being used in the smut industry to great effect. I bought Vroleplay.com for that purpose.

Are Virtual Reality Arcades Becoming A Trend?

You may soon see a VR arcade at a mall location near you.

It has been over a year since we first experienced The VOIDโ€™s VR theme park in Utah. Being one of the first media outlets to actually demo at the facility, we werenโ€™t expecting much from the early prototype center. But after walking out of The VOID, our minds were blown away.

We immediately saw how entertainment centers like The VOID can not only provide more access to the often cost-prohibitive immersive technology, but also help create an entirely new industry of real-life VR arcades that consumers will seek out to experience with groups of friends on a Friday night.

Sega is bringing the Zero Latency multiplayer VR arcade to Japan.

It would seem that the trend of VR entertainment centers and arcades is only gaining momentum โ€“ and this is clearly just the beginning. Dave and Busterโ€™s began testing VR games in one of their full-service restaurants last year and Bandai Namco recently opened up their own VR arcade in Tokyo. In the first half of this year, annoucements have been coming in heavy, with Sega planning to bring a multiplayer VR arcade to Japan, Acer and Starbreeze partnering up to open their first arcade in Los Angeles sometime this year and The VOID opening their Times Square Ghostbusters experience July 1st.

Bringing VR Arcades to the Mall

With companies diving in to build out their own facilities as VR entertainment centers, there is one place we havenโ€™t seen much of yet in the states. That is, one of Americaโ€™s favorite pastimes โ€“ the shopping mall.

In the city of Orem, Utah, a VR arcade has just opened for business, maybe giving us a first glimpse at what these arcades may look like in malls around the country.

Cloudgine Believes Most Games Will Utilise Cloud Computing โ€œWithin Five Yearsโ€

โ€œThe term โ€˜Cloud Gamingโ€™ has been on the tech radar for a while now but it has never really taken off and it has generated a lot of scepticism in the games industry. Why? We strongly believe that the main reason was the lack of unique and ground-breaking game experiences specifically crafted for a distributed Cloud environment.โ€ This is the belief of Cloudgine, the company helping to power Crackdown 3โ€™s unprecedented destruction.

Maurizio Sciglio recently gave an interview to the BBC in which he affirms where he thinks cloud gaming is going in the near-future. Maurizio co-founded Cloudgine with the goal of demonstrating that Cloud Gaming can really be โ€œThe Next Big Thingโ€ for the games industry.

Crackdown is marketed by Microsoft as a major release for its Xbox One, and will serve as the acid test for server-enhanced gaming. If successful, it could pave the way for more projects that take a similar approach.

Mr Sciglio is, of course, bullish about its prospects: โ€œWe think in one way or another, most games will be using cloud computing within five years.โ€œ

He adds that, for the past six months, his team has been applying the tech to an unannounced virtual reality (VR) game.

โ€œVR is a technology that is even more relevant for us, because it demands so much โ€“ 90 frames-per-second, stereo rendering. Youโ€™re putting so much pressure on your local device. We feel cloud computing can help greatly in this area. We havenโ€™t announced anything yet, but weโ€™re working on ahigh-profile virtual reality game.โ€œ

VRGenderSwap.com I have a few names of this type, can't list them all off the top of my head. But this type of thing is one of the most obvious applications of VR.
There are going to be heaps of applications for a "virtual world" for me, it is Horror that will be a big winner, cheers

Many Venture capitalist in the west are asleep at the wheel...
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...r-pokemon-china-investors-eyeing-next-vr-apps

But if Chinese domaining investment habits are a clue of how their venture investment money will play here,
look for the market to overheat quickly without solid foundations.
I won't describe those implications here. Use your imagination.

I have been watching this closely but this is the first time I seen someone else take note of it.

I've had my eyes on them for quite some time. Portion of my portfolio awaits for the bulls.

http://hamletvr.org/

"To Be With Hamlet is being created by a group of media professionals who love Shakespeare and who want to push the boundaries of whatโ€™s possible in theatre and virtual reality. Your donations will help the team raise Hamletโ€™s production values even higher, share the experience with audiences outside the New York City area, and potentially fund the creation of more Shakespearean productions in VR, such as Macbeth, A Midsummer Nightโ€™s Dream, and The Tempest. "

Maybe if they get enough funding they will be able to afford the $9,999 Onekey is asking for HamletVR.com

This was some fun and great hint a things to come, the experiences was just a teaser for the festival coming up. There are probably meetup.com groups near you, no matter what country, cheers

I would like to attend some meetups. I spend most of the year in big European cities such as London and Barcelona so it should be possible. I'd also like to possibly invest in the odd VR startup - seems a more worthwhile way of making money out of VR than just squatting on domains!

A peek at DayDream eco-system.
http://www.brandchannel.com/2016/08/10/google-daydream-labs-vr-081016/

VR has it's limits without HAND TRACKING and that puts LeapMotion and those like it at the forefront.
Probably going to be standard issue in the 2nd/3rd gen of devices.
But it may be possible that the stereoscopic cams in front of the i7pro may be used for hand tracking & room mapping. In short, VR is in need of more input devices. An Investment opportunity.
