In the field of VR (virtual reality), no big breakthrough has been made till now, however everyone knows it will be a future trend and many Chinese Internet giants is entering the field of VR in 2016. A few days ago, Alibaba announced that it established a VR laboratory which once again drew people's attention to VR.

VR, short for Virtual Reality, is a computer technology that replicates an environment, real or imagined, and simulates a user's physical presence that environment in a way that allows the user to interact with it. Virtual realities artificially create sensory experience, which can include sight, touch, hearing, and smell.

2014

Facebook’s founder, Zuckerberg spent $2 billion on acquisition of virtual reality vendors VR Oculus.

Samsung produced VR Gear and gearvr.com is set to jump to Amazon Samsung VR Gear sale page.

Google developed an intelligent mobile phone which would become a virtual reality device.


2015

HTC VIVE, a VR helmet, is jointly developed by HTC and Valve. Domain name htcvr.com has been built to the official website and htcvr.cn and htcvr.com.cn are in the hands of another company.

Tencent launched the second level domain name vr.qq.com in advance and the current website shows “网站建设中,敬请期待!(website is under construction)”. Domain name vr.tencent.com has already built into the official website.

Then Baidu video also announced its relevant strategies and launched VR on-line channel. However Vrbaidu.com and baiduvr.com do not belong to Baidu.

2016

Alibaba established a VR lab, and for the first time disclosed the VR group strategies, starting Buy+ program aiming to lead the future shopping experience. The WHOIS information show that alivr.com, alibabavr.com is protected and alivr.com.cn/.cn/.net belong to different three people.

Iqiyi launched VR channel and part of the contents can already be viewed by VR equipment.

Mango TV began to try to play its variety shows through VR technology. MangoVR.com was registered last year by a Chinese domainer. MangguoVR.com has just been registered in January this year.

With Google, Facebook, Samsung, HTC, Mi, Tencent, Alibaba, 360, Iqiyi, Mango TV joining in the battle one after another, VR technology is going to be applied in our daily life step by step.
