Im betting big bucks on VR domains have a great future and with the big boys buying up VR companies, mainstream is a stones throw away.....

Lots of VR+keyword.com taken years ago and I noticed this sale a week or so back -

VRTechnology.com $3688

This was a steel and I can soon see everything from VRPoker / VRCasinos / VRShopping / VRBrowsing / VRTours / VRWorlds / etc etc....having a high price tag even now at the start of VR hitting mainstream...

I have just paid $x,xxx for a name but will not be showcasing as the domain is in escrow at present....

Feel free to showcase your VR domains If you like...

Cheers

There was a debate in this thread some months back about whether the sale of VRoom dot com was actually a VR related sale or not. The general conclusion *was* that it wasn't VR related, but now it appears that the company may have purchased it specifically for the use of promoting a VR related service. Quite interesting...

Damn, took me a while. Morninghead.
Now I understand too.

EDIT: But I had to visit the site to be 100% :D

Edit: General question: I wrote a message to VRcity(.)com and they wanted 50,000$ for it. I'm going to try to contact the owner of VRtown(.)com. What do you think this would be valued? 50K is a bit steap for 6L-domain

Nah, I still think it wasn't not a VR sale.

"Vroom" is the sound that a car makes.

It just so happens they are making a VR app and their first 2 letters of their brand is also VR. Just coincidence.

A lot of companies will be jumping into VR.

I wouldn't have taken that domain for free. Nor would I have even renewed it if I had it already. I think that most would agree that this is a very unusual brandable, which just goes to show that the predictability of this industry (like so many others) is extremely limited.

Now, watch people start regging VRooom, VRoooom, etc....if they haven't already. This nonsense.....

I wouldn't be surprised if this was more that just a coincidence. The timing of that sale, during the dawn of this industry points to a possible intended VR meaning, but unless the owners clarify it's all speculation.

It's easy to say a thing is VR related, when you have VR on the brain 24/7.

Personally I'm 95% convinced that purchase was nothing to do with VR at the time.

I could probably call them up and ask them, but I don't care that much. :lookaround:

Just my opinion.

Could be a coincident. It's a good name for a car related buisness even without the VR-part for sure. But as Winfluence said, the timing. And what are the odds that a car business buys a name like that and then goes on to be one of the first companies in that industry to use VR? They could have bought lots of other great names for a lot less money. It seems they REALLY wanted that particular name. Must be a reason. I think they wanted it because it's a great car name on its own AND implies VR....so it works both ways independently.
