Virtual Reality Domains (VR)

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
Im betting big bucks on VR domains have a great future and with the big boys buying up VR companies, mainstream is a stones throw away.....

Lots of VR+keyword.com taken years ago and I noticed this sale a week or so back -

VRTechnology.com $3688

This was a steel and I can soon see everything from VRPoker / VRCasinos / VRShopping / VRBrowsing / VRTours / VRWorlds / etc etc....having a high price tag even now at the start of VR hitting mainstream...

I have just paid $x,xxx for a name but will not be showcasing as the domain is in escrow at present....

Feel free to showcase your VR domains If you like...

Cheers

RMUSIC.games

Crazy? Maybe. I've never registered anything except in Com/net/org/ca/me.

But, if you Google music games they are huge and everywhere. Also whoever owns .games registry has held back/reserved music so it can't be registered cuz it's considered premium. maybe VR music will be considered premium within a year? If not already?

Maybe this is a winner? I really have no idea. Thoughts?

Hey @saucey

Personally, I would stay away from these new gtld's, most companies are not aware they even exist and that will remain that way, these extensions create a buzz when launched, but only with the domaining industry and then die a slow death once the registrars have made a small fortune off them. There are certain names being sold and developed, but mainly perfect combinations like Used.Cars, Sports.Club etc

IMAX CEO Talks Virtual Reality and His Plans For High-Tech Arcades

IMAX has virtual reality fever.

The big-screen theater giant opened its first VR hub this month in Los Angeles. People will pay $10 to strap on a VR headset inside one of 15 soundproof rooms to experience either VR video games or films for roughly seven minutes.

The VR arcade in Los Angeles is one of six VR hubs that IMAX (IMAX, +0.31%) will debut worldwide this year. For many people who have yet to fly spaceships in VR or stood next to their favorite actors in hit films, IMAX's new arcades could be their first experience.

In this edited interview with Fortune, IMAX CEO Richard Gelfond discusses why IMAX is pushing into virtual reality, what it hopes to learn from its new entertainment centers, and whether the emerging VR technology is ready for primetime.

Fortune: Why are you building virtual reality centers?

Gelfond: Because of IMAX's brand, we felt we were in a very good position to be a first mover in the VR entertainment space. Many people have described VR to us and they'd say, "We're the IMAX of VR," meaning they're providers of a high-end virtual reality immersive experience. We said, “Gee, why couldn’t IMAX be the IMAX of VR rather than someone else being the IMAX of VR?”

VRSportsTV

VR in the sport scene will be a big bang. It needs some time but surely will explode.

I have similar .com names:

LiveMatchVR
VRLiveMatch
VRFootballMatch

I have high hopes in them. What do you think?

Bizarre!!! That's crazy! I know it's the German soccer league and it would be trademarked as such. But to trade mark it as a telecommunications device or 3-D viewer etc. etc. is completely unexpected!

Mihail.... Drop it! :(
It was just me not being careful enough, newbie mistake.

I've read before that Starbreeze were going to open up an Arcade in LA but it seems to go slow and no date is set. Hopefully it happens soon.
http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2016-01-25-starbreeze-to-open-vr-arcade-hall-in-los-angeles

Not sure though if it's worth it to renew VRArcadehall another year or let it drop, suggestions?

I received a lot of interest for V*R*Chess dot king, but I don't want to sell for cheap. Chess is played throughout the world and is a much loved pastime. I could even develop myself later on.

What are your thoughts?

VR+MMA was for sale not so long back with a BIN of $600 (not sure if still is) and was on the market for this for a long time.

It’s probably a $1,500-$2,000 domain to an end user and probably around $600 if you just want rid of it to a domainer in my opinion (similar to VR+MMA). If it was VRGolf, VRFootball different story.

Chess can be long and boring if you don’t have a passion for it, so unless someone has a really great idea for it, I can’t really think what you can do with it in Virtual Reality other than looking around the board different angles.

Good luck.

You remember the first Matrix where Neo is sitting with Morpheus with two red chairs in this white 'room' in the "construct" programme then suddenly his environment has changed in to what the world is really like. Now imagine you have two red chairs but instead of the TV you have a table with a chessboard.

Then think of 100 more different environments.. space, 7 wonders, on top of a volcano, mars, north pole, the beach. Perhaps you can even scan your back garden and use that as an added feature.

Also think about scale, instead of having a birdseye view of the chessboard, you are in the chessboard. Your sitting on top of your castle piece as a 1cm high character overlooking the battlefield and all your chess pieces.

Truly possibilities are endless for those who want to dream, all it takes is money, the right developer and a passion as you said.

Keep it ! You should find the right developer and develop this domain, the potential is really big ( and far from boring IMO)

I don't think this was a question about droppng it or not guys.
VR Chess is definetly a top domain, in 3-4 years I'm sure it can be sold to other domainers for 3k+ (end-user easily 10k).

vrchess is a very nice name @LucidDomains and clearly i'm in the passionate category as i've played many a long game :)

What someone will pay for it I find a little hard to predict but it could do a big end user sale to an enthusiast or more likely to a Company with a big plan for it and with the ability and knowhow to monetise it to the max.

A definite hold!

@LucidDomains Just saw this interesting article from yesterday about Tabletop Games.

In fact, you can play a single player preview version of Magic Table Chess for free right now on both Gear VR and Oculus Rift. Multiplayer, avatars, and motion controllers are planned additions for a later time.

Well millions do have a passion for it, the holographic chess scene from Star Wars is still an iconic representation of the aspirations of all virtual/holographic/3d technology, and furthermore, it's a sit down game which is perfect for the sit down state of VR at this moment.

I honestly wouldn't sell a name like that for less than $x,xxx, probably will be worth a lot more at some point. I mean, maybe it wont, but only if VR isn't as big as we hope and not because 'chess is boring'.

That’s fair enough if you don’t find boring, but some people do though, I don’t think it’s unfair to say chess is a marmite game, even the biggest chess fans will know AND admit the game is not everyone's cup of tea.

Also think my valuation of $2k is a more than fair valuation, $2k would be one of the highest recorded chess related domain sales.

VHalloween keep/drop?

Halloween in VR would be cool and could work in many ways entertainment or retail-wise, but still undecided.

There are only a few "V" sales recorded that I know of.
