Virtual Reality Domains (VR)

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
Im betting big bucks on VR domains have a great future and with the big boys buying up VR companies, mainstream is a stones throw away.....

Lots of VR+keyword.com taken years ago and I noticed this sale a week or so back -

VRTechnology.com $3688

This was a steel and I can soon see everything from VRPoker / VRCasinos / VRShopping / VRBrowsing / VRTours / VRWorlds / etc etc....having a high price tag even now at the start of VR hitting mainstream...

I have just paid $x,xxx for a name but will not be showcasing as the domain is in escrow at present....

Feel free to showcase your VR domains If you like...

Cheers

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
FB have spent $2 billion on oculus, I don't think they actually have unlimited funds to improve cv1. Their goal right now is actually "how do we recoup our money as fast as possible". They have shareholders and they are still a corporate entity.

HTC haven't spent $2 billion so they can allocate a lot more money to improving their first consumer release.

As surprising as it may seem, I believe Oculus and Facebook are trying to do the opposite. If Facebook had not bought Oculus, Oculus wouldn't have the funds to stay afloat without increasing the consumer price. Facebook's presence means they have a lot more financial cushion.

Because they can afford it, they are able to lower the consumer price as far as they can so that more people can get their hands on it now. Wide acceptance and rapid growth from the beginning is much more important in the long-term than immediate profit is.

People won't care about hardware specs if they can't play the same games all their friends are playing. Facebook with Samsung and Sony (PS4-5) will probably have the biggest pull when it comes to content (before Apple releases their headset/platform)...especially FB with it's social network platform, which I'm sure they will integrate into Oculus in a way unimaginable at this moment, before someone else will (imagine FB competing with Second Life, with the 1.5 billion member network they've already got..... just for example!).

Another advantage of FB over Sony is that it already provides a means of video consumption, while Sony will need to prove it's self as a hub for of anything other than games, which makes their headset kind of limited.

I don't know how difficult it will be for devs to work with 4-5 different platforms....with different hardware and software.

Oculus is still my first choice.

Don't forget that part/most of that $2B was to buy the rights from the venture capital that was put into it in several rounds of funding. That would include John Carmac from the start. But the deal was cash and stock in Facebook.
Both HTC and Oculus and even Sony's PlaystationVR have had the advantage of not having to spend time and effort raising the capital required on the open market. It slows things down by far.
You can concentrate on making the product and bringing it to market hiring who you need to do that.
That is why they are in front of a pack that will only get bigger.

Facebook has much more to gain in their 'Online Properties' than in the gain of Oculus rift sales. Especially if they can offer some of the best experiences from the start. Not that the sales don't count. They are very important. But Facebook has many angles to this. I'm sure we will see what Facebook has had up their sleeve in uses of the tech at their sites shortly after CES. But they could surprise us during the show. I think we may get a preview this month anyway to help create the hype needed at launch.
EDIT: I kind of doubt Facebook will support the Vive, at least for the very short term anyway.

Was just offered 300 Euro for VREmpire.com

Was also wondering what are your thoughts. My opinion is to keep it for a longer term,or a proper offer.
I think it's worth over 300 euros. what's your thought?
Hold for a few more years and you will get $3k+ for it. That's the perfect type of VR +keyword domain that will have great appeal to a VR tech company.

I was certain this domain worth over a thousand dollars. Perhaps the best idea is to fulfill the domains potential in a year or so.
Thanks!

Not sure if this will work, but I just reg'd XNXSZ.com - Chinese for Virtual reality (虚拟现实在) https://translate.google.com/#zh-CN/en/xnxsz
This makes me wonder. If that is an accurate trabslation - why hasn't some chinese person registered it?

When I look at 4.cn all I see is random number combinations for sale. Are they not interested at all in real words?

It just dropped, everything with "XNXS" then b, c, d, up to y etc is registered by Chinese owners, I just managed to get the one with "z" on the end. Hopefully it might be worth something if all others are reg'd by Chinese? I'm not sure but it is worth the gamble of 8€.

Just got a mail from Oculus. Pre-orders start january 6. Palmer Luckey will also be hosting an AMA on Reddit that day. Maybe some of our members should ask some clever VR internet/domain related questions?
