Virtual Reality Domains (VR)

Spaceship Spaceship

Im betting big bucks on VR domains have a great future and with the big boys buying up VR companies, mainstream is a stones throw away.....

Lots of VR+keyword.com taken years ago and I noticed this sale a week or so back -

VRTechnology.com $3688

This was a steel and I can soon see everything from VRPoker / VRCasinos / VRShopping / VRBrowsing / VRTours / VRWorlds / etc etc....having a high price tag even now at the start of VR hitting mainstream...

I have just paid $x,xxx for a name but will not be showcasing as the domain is in escrow at present....

Feel free to showcase your VR domains If you like...

Cheers

Museum ? this is a very small part of it...there is much more business to do promoting hotels and resort :)

Yeah. That is my point. Promotion = Marketing

So what I am saying is that marketing will be a huge niche. Especially for the travel industry. But I don't believe VR will replace the actual act of traveling. Sometimes you hear people say "In the future we will take our vacation in VR". I don't think so. VR would have to be like the Matrix to replace real travel.

The exceptions are museums and such where VR might actually provide a better expwrience than actually being there. Instead of standing in a sweaty crowd of tourists in the Louvre you can visit in VR.

Definetly sll of them, snd real estate

Again, real eatate VR is also included in the marketing niche if you ask me. 360 video to sell property and VR do design and showcase future projects.

Nice! Now there is a movie that could help promote VR adaption even faster. Immersive suits, haptic vests, 4D environment, gun controllers... All that good shit...

No surprise really.
That's $100M in sales.
The big attraction in my opinion is the "very accurate multi-point room tracking".
Oculus is sure to show us something like it at CES2017
And I think we may see a adapter for mobile to provide room tracking.
Add that with a Leap Motion like hand tracker and wireless adapter and it's quite a toolset.
I think in just one year, things are going to look a lot different in the overall market.

Bring it on Sony :)

Sony has committed to making a variety of content “beyond gaming” following the global launch last week of its PlayStation VR headset.

Speaking at MIPCOM this morning, the president and CEO of Sony Corporation, Kazuo Hirai, said that Sony is well positioned to set trends in virtual reality – both by providing an “entirely new gaming experience” and by offering other kinds of content.

“We have paid close attention to audience reaction to early VR exposure and intend to respond with a variety of content beyond gaming. Across Sony, our content divisions are working on VR entertainment as we seek to grow the industry,” said Hirai.

The firm has already developed VR experiences based on Sony Pictures Entertainment produced or distributed films The Walk, Goosebumps andGhostbusters, and Sony Music is now developing a VR music experience with EDM artist Kygo.

“VR provides us all an exciting and new creative frontier. We want you to share in our excitement about the possibility of VR to your respective businesses and to imagine the possibility as VR moves beyond games – to television, live sporting events, awe-inspiring documentaries and of course B2B applications as well,” said Hirai.

“The perspective of my 32 years in this business tells me that there is no limit to what is possible if you stay tuned to the sensibilities and interests of the consumers and you understand where they’re going.”

Hirai, who spent ten years at Sony Music and another 15 at Sony’s PlayStation division before being appointed CEO in 2012, said that an important aspect of his strategy is to create ‘one Sony’.

Under his management, Sony executives from the entertainment and electronics sides of the company meet twice a year to discuss business issues – an initiative Hirai said resulted in the development of PlayStation VR.

“We just need to make sure that all the various businesses are talking to each other, sharing information and, where necessary, when it works for everybody involved, do something together,” said Hirai.

In his keynote the executive also highlighted the importance of ‘kando’ – a Japanese term that refers to emotional involvement – as a means to determine both what the company should do, and why it should do it.

“By sharing your ideas, we can identify or develop new technologies from state of the art cameras to improved and flexible delivery of formats that fully render what’s possible,” said Hirai.

“In this multiplatform, multichannel world, viewer preferences are as personal and individual as they are. This is why our efforts over the past few years have been focused both on providing entertainment experiences that elicit ‘kando’.”

Sony, which houses Sony Pictures Entertainment, last week launched PlayStation VR – a headset that plugs into PlayStation 4 consoles. As well as an extensive line-up of games, there are also a number of VR video apps and experience that have already either launched or been unveiled.

Question, how many use VR on a regular basis?

I've spent loads on virtual related domains and have Gear VR, I've not bought Vive/Oculus or PS VR yet, but barely use it.

Everyone here regular users of VR?

Yup. Gear VR too. Use it a few times a week. Had as much fun watching friends use it for the first time :)

I use my Vive a few times every week. Strictly for gaming so far.

If you ask me VR at the moment lacks:

AAA games
Ease of use.
Quality content in general.

I would love to lear languages using VR for example. But there is really no good way of doing that so far.

It needs time.
