Value of Domain Hacks

Here's my question..what is the value of domain hack? I've seen some good domain hack and i was wondering about the value of it. I myself own one and i'm not sure whether or not i should get more. I haven't seen any sale of domain hack. Why do we register domain hack? Is it because the domain looks cool or because there's a potential end user who's willing to buy such domain?

You're right that "Bayern Munchen" is the official name in German, but in English speaking countries we say and spell it "Bayern Munich". Not that it matters, but this is illustrated by the fact that "Bayern Munich" has more than triple the amount of searches than that of "Bayern Munchen"

good hacks IMO. Not sure about value. are these even considered 'hacks'?

hacks like lapto .ps are confusing, and look weird. i wouldn't use most of these for development.

Hacks are of 2 types:

1. when the zone itself is a word and the whole domain becomes a phrase (all .me-s from your example)

2. when the name together with zone forms single word (both lapto.ps and inter.net from your post)

type 1 is much more valuable than type 2

Well, that is not correct for LL or L or even LLL.ccTLD
Short domain hacks are very attractive.
Ex: blo.gs, we.bs, b.et etc

I disagree.. .me hacks are not true hacks in my opinion.. Lapto.ps and blo.gs and such domains are true hacks!

Short domain hacks are very attractive.
Ex: blo.gs, we.bs, b.et etc

I also hold portfolio of about 50 hacks of type 2, but as it seems from sales reports or even SEO perspective, type 1 is still preferred. Not the good news maybe for my portfolio, but it still happens.

If I'm mistaken, then it will make me even happier

In type 1 phrase is hacked, in type 2 - the word. That's the only difference. But commonly both types are referred as hacks

Here are two of my domain hacks:

MES.SI (for Leo Messi)
ASSI.SI (for a well known tourist town and community Assisi - you probably think also on St Assisi and Assisi wine...)

I think 2 years ago pep.si was sold for $10k (according to Slovenian media...)

Most of my $x,xxx - $xx,xxx sales came from phone call either by a broker or co-owner of the company.
