For the month of March a total of 43 of my .mobi’s got hits (63 hits total) at Sedo. I have a total of 192 mobis. Three are in development, 34 are newer and are not included in the stats, although they are now parked as of last night and early this a.m.. Mobi domains comprise less than 6% of my overall portfolio listed at Sedo.

These stats represent a total of 155 .mobi parked domains of which a nearly 28% received hits. None received more than 4 hits. While this may not be earth shattering news, it is pleasant to see some of these get traffic with no promotion thus far. One of the domain names parked did have 2 conversions at $0.21. Total revenue for the month of March from parked domain names was $0.42. Again, not earth shattering news but enlightening seeing that this does represent type in traffic from unpublicized domains.

Interestingly, 17 of them were numbers. 2 of those numbers are seven digits each like a standard call the neighbor phone number and one 6 digit:

2446373.mobi (Chinese)
8253688.mobi (Take Out)
276537.mobi (Broker)

Numbers, as we all know, are universal and not subjected to language barriers like letters and words. I think the popularity and use of numbers for .mobi will continue to grow as, needless to say, they are perhaps more appropriate in this format than any other format or extension.

It is also interesting that I noticed all my CVCV.mobi's (abar, adoc, agal, aguy, ajit, atow, avet, baha, etc) getting hits in alphabetical order. This means someone is checking them out to see who owns them and see if they are regged. It appears they are down to the "L's" as lile.mobi was hit today.

So it appears the hunt is on for CVCV as .com prices are bringing in huge numbers and speculation begins. With all three LLL mobi’s regged, the next logical step other than keyword are the prime 4 LLLL and CVCV that were not snatched up during land rush. Many of my CVCV are huge OVT results and are foreign words.

Of the three in development,
two have been activated but have not been promoted or made public as of yet. That announcement will be forthcoming. Mobi A has been active the longest (since March 23) and is monitored via AdMob stats. Since it’s unannounced release, it has received 210 unsolicited ad hits with a 16 CTR generating $1.46. Mobi B which just went active with AdMob on March 28 has received 187 unsolicited AdMob hits with 3 CTR totaling $0.07. The thinking behind the traffic is good natural type in keywords or phonetics to warrant the traffic. I think these numbers are quite impressive with such short live status and no promoting whatsoever.

Since the announcement of T-Mobile launching the mobile platform with great fanfare and providing the tools to create a .mobi site to it’s customers, I am thinking that Europe would lead the way (behind Japan and Asia perhaps) in embracing .mobi, I regged several German language mobi's yesterday, in addition to already owning a couple.

Today, two have already received 2 hits each:

volksfest.mobi (funfair [Br.]; carnival [Am.] public festival)
zugfahrplan.mobi (train timetable; train schedule)

Seeing that T mobile is German based, this would be the obvious place to look for quality names as well as other European countries. Surprisingly many great quality keyword searched words were available but doubtful for long. I got many public transport, airline, hotel, apartment, soccer, and athletic German Keywords. Many have very high - exceptionally high German OVT results as well as Google returns. The same with a few French and Italian regged .mobi’s. I suggest to all domainers, mobiphiles and mobiphobics alike, to look at prime foreign language words. The internet is not, I repeat, NOT simply for the entertainment and usage of English speaking peoples. Shocking but true.

In other related .mobi news:
A few members on this forum have been approached about a project I have been working on and have consented to be part of it. It is a massive undertaking and quite frankly at the moment on the back burner until after taxes.

This will not be an exclusive club but at the moment I am selecting those developed .mobi sites that I think are relevant to my audience. It involves a cross-promotional effort on my part to introduce the .mobi and educate my users on its benefits. The site needs some tweaking here and there but so far I think the presentation is looking good and hopefully will generate traffic and revenue for the .mobi owner in the long run. This is all a free service and solely at my discretion for the time being.

I am also waiting on permission from the powers that be to use the .mobi logo in my promotional efforts.

With taxes wrapping up and perhaps a little more time to promote to this endeavor, I will be able to push forward with this project and push .mobi as well. Cross promotion and networking is paramount to the success of any domain but I think more so for the .mobi as this is in its infancy but has all the signs of growing up strong and healthy.

:imho:

I thought that perhaps while I was going through the trouble of checking on the health of my .mobi portfolio that I would share the results with the fellow mobi-ites. I would say it is doing okay. Already for April, in just one day 10 mobi’s parked at sedo have received a total of 14 hits.

I think it would not hurt to do a periodic check up on the infant “patients” and as apparent, patience is the key along with development and promoting.

Great news!

I've received 4 uniques in the last week for my antioxidants.mobi site which I'm pretty happy about :) I'm not even close to being finished it yet so it's nice to see some people are looking for dotmobis. I'm going to redirect all my other dotmobis to this one for the time being as none of the others have been developed whatsoever. I'll definitelty keep you informed on what I see for my portfolio of approximately 250 names.
