The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
There's a couple people (at least) that hold 1k+ NNNN.mobis. Mjnels told me about one of them (the guy that facilitated the buyout) awhile back and I've spoken to the other.

interesting, so really one person is going to be dropping all these? i'd be curious to know how you all feel about nnnn.mobis?? i don't have any numeric .mobis and really never thought that highly of them due to qwerty keyboards.

I don't know the guy mjnels has spoken to myself, so I'll have to take his word on it that they're going to be dropped..

The guy I know is (or at least was last time I spoke to him) still trying to sell his.

I kind of like NNNN.mobis myself, tbh, but the market just doesn't seem large enough to support 10k names composed of 4 numbers at the moment. I do think that at least the large majority of those that drop will be registered yet again by other speculators...

i kinda like NNNN.mobi's... i registered around 300 on the day general registration / cheaper prices opened (october 11th, 2006)... a lot of repeating digit ones like 7774 and nice even ones like 9800, etc.. memorable stuff.

i was racing with another guy to get the memorable ones... i would say we each got half.

Reece is correct tho.. the NNNN.mobi market is too immature.. especially in this case because one person currently owns half of all the possible NNNN.mobi combinations and arnt able to renew most of them..

Sounds like someone with some cash and a bit of gonads could come close to cornering the market. And there are no IDNs for numbers, so the world is the market for NNNN.mobis.

If scarcity in a popular market creates value, it will be a healthy exercise to see the number of mobi domains diminish.

I don't subscribe to the theory that an endlessly increasing number of domains creates any value for them. In fact, quite the opposite would be true as the market gets diluted.

For those who recognized the mobile trend early and captured good names in relevant business categories, the probability of success is high.

For the rest, who missed the early opportunity, or focused in the wrong area, there will be disappointment.

That just makes good domains that much more valuable.

Sags

:bah: I have got 2 NNNN with 88 in them regged because they were the last ones....but this thread reminded me of all other .mobi I regged....are we going to drop LLL.mobi too now? :'(

I have been focusing on short .com too much to follow what`s really going on on .mobi , plus the continue arguing about it gave me nausea so I stopped reading it totally.

They have not dropped yet. One year .mobi regs started Feb 12, 2007. It will be 6 - 8 weeks or more after Feb 12 before any are available as drops.

If thousands of them are dropping my guess is that they are not worth all that much.

Very good point.

NO .mobi domains were allowed to be registered for less than 2 (two) years until Feb 2007.

Thus the first possible renewal deadline for the vast majority of valuable .mobi domains is between Sep 26 2008 and Feb 12 2009.

A significant number of NNNNs (let's say the 'bad half') will come up for renewal in late February 2008. Most of those that are not deemed worth renewing are likely to drop some time in April.
