.mobi NNNN.mobi (Value?)

We've seen prices for NNN.mobi go up after selling out during landrush. We've seen prices for LLL.mobi go up after selling out in October. Today we've seen the last NNNN.mobi's sell out, but what can we expect in terms of value?

Let's start with the current market value of NNN according to 3Character.com:

Current Observed Minimum Wholesale Price (regardless of Number combo) as of February 1, 2007::
• 3-Number .com - $5000
• 3-Number .mobi - $750

Based on these numbers we can see that NNN.mobi is valued at 15% of NNN.com ($750 / $5000 = 15%). If we apply this calculation to a NNNN.com (currently selling at $300 min), we can say NNNN.mobi is worth 15% of $300 = $45. These calculations are for random-number combos (4638.mobi, etc). Premium numbers are a little trickier but we've seen premium NNN.mobi's (300 & 900) sell at 5X to 7X the price of a random-number NNN.mobi

In conclusion, here's a summary of current market value (random-number combos):

NNN.com - $5000
NNN.mobi - $750
NNNN.com - $300
NNNN.mobi - $45

My valuation of NNNN.mobi is based purely on the calculations above. In the next few weeks the market will determine value. Stay tuned..

It seemed that NNN.mobi was mostly evenly distributed. 50 - 60% of the NNNN.mobis went to one buyer and probably will not see the light of day for the foreseeable future. So that rarity will also affect the value. And that buyer bought up most of the low end names, skewing the market so that there will be few sales of "worst possible" NNNN.mobis.

I think it's too early to value but if you are decided to sell now i would suggest at least mid xx for it.

I dont think NNNN will ever be worth more than NNN. NNN would still be more rare since there are only 1000 possible compared to 10,000. Even NNNN.com arent worth a lot and .com has been out for a very long time.

I did not say that NNNN .mobi would be worth more than NNN.mobi. I said that NNNN would (IMHO) be worth more than 15% of the value of a comparable NNN. Big difference.

While I do not expect NNNN.mobi to come anywhere near the value of NNNN.com anytime soon, there are factors that make numerical domains very well suited to the .mobi extension. These have been discussed at length in the other thread, by several posters, me included, so I will be brief here.

Cell phones are very popular in Asia. Many languages in Asia have thousands of written characters which would be difficult to use on a cell phone or mobile device. Numbers have greater cultural meaning there. So it follows that short numerical .mobi names will have great popularity in Asia if .mobi becomes a popular extension there.
