I got a strange email this afternoon, that looked too good to be true (The red flags went up after I received his reply)

That's the exact email that Wargacki scammer sent me when I told him I was reporting him to my bank and authorities. I'm gonna give these domain explorer people a call soon - have just asked them thru the Plimus site to clarify whether the (509) is a country code (which in their case would be Haiti) or an area/state code (which looks like Washington if they're in the US) so will be interesting to read their reply if they reply at all.

Forster, it's obvious we should join forces (and anybody else here who got suckered by these rats) and resources - the more victims that the FBI and banks have to cross reference the quicker they'll nail these guys and force them to come clean and cough up.

I see they're still operating from easynamesale.com - exact same site, just different header.

As I said, it's a good thing I stumbled across this forum. I'm sure I would have fallen for it because I just finished selling my first domain, and the transaction went very well. I still had dollar signs in my eyes when this dummy emailed me.

He has emailed me a few a times. I ignored his first one and then when I received a second one I just simply stated "I am aware of how your so called company and scam works which is posted on several domain forums. Either remove my email address from your scamming list or I will be forced to take legal action."

Would of been fun if he responded back but haven't heard anything since then.

Looks like he tried to scam me too and he did have me fooled until I came across his forum. I only got 1 email from him and I replied to it saying that I was only taking $10 for the domain name lol Lets see what he says about that. Below is the email he sent me.

Usually scammers use hotmail or gmail accounts to scam with thats what I usually use to tell if people are genuine or not so he could easily trick a few people with this sadly.

I googled OBN realestate and the first result on google led me to this topic... :P

They've obviously got some script monitoring new arrivals at Sedo, thinking they're 'newbs' and therefore easy meat for their diabolically dimwitted scheme.

Strangely I didn't get a reply to my very generous offer. Maybe I hurt Mr Ledingham's feelings in some way, perhaps 10 mil was slightly over his budget, or maybe someone else in his family had a baby and he's busy celebrating again; BUT, not long after I sent it, I got a mail from 'Nominet' saying my Whois details and email had been regged with them. This took me somewhat by surprise, as it wasn't me who made an account with them...

I've no idea what these fools hope to achieve by impostoring me there, but it must've been them. It's too coincidental.

Anyway, I reported them to the online cops here - http://www.ripofftipoff.net/

The guy is using my name.... I received an email from these scammers a few years ago, so I think they must have got my name from that time or from the whois of one of my domains.

I got a phone call at my business from someone that had got this email (my business ironically is in real estate). I told him it sounded suspicious, but that I had nothing to do with it.

It sucks that I am involved in domains and real estate, and he is using my name... :(

Hmm, dumb as he/they is/are, that confusion with you is probably intentional, unluckily for you :/

I really hope this isn't some kind of inside job, and that someone in Sedo isn't feeding him info, or worse that he's employed by Sedo.

Surely they wouldn't employ someone as dumb as this though. He can't even make a site with working links, lol.

It's a standard practice to show independent valuation to buyers/resellers.
Nobody will do business without it. I'm a businessman and have no intention
of changing rules which help both parties to avoid additional risks.

Of course, investors never take into account auto-generated valuations. So
manual valuation is a "must" too.

I have bitten the bait im afraid to say, naive as I was. I DID buy appraisals from domain explorer, and i DID continue to email this supposed scammer. I asked Plimus for a refund explaining the situation, and they then claimed I had made a false claim and they were getting their lawyers involved!

So I really don't know what to do.

Their lawyers? I wouldnt stay with such a customer-hostile company for a minute longer. You could point them at this thread for s start though...Though if they are anything like Paypal, they might not give any of their priceless time to anything so trivial as supporting evidence.

Most of these payment companies blow a lot of hot air about how safe and client concerned they are, but ultimately just take the path of least resistance.

Unfortunately you are right. ALOT of hot. With them I am no longer!

I suggest people watch out for this if this happens and get hold of you bank to initiate immediate charge backs concerning domainexplorer.org with Plimus, which is what I'm currently doing!

Thanks for the info guys/gals. I avoided this stinky scam, thankfully but just got the email yesterday. Although I wasted about an hour doing a little digging and eventually landing here, at least I got a good laugh from what some of you emailed back to this silly bas-turd.
