We're talking about LEGAL immigrants. If your spouse is an immigrant and doesn't have an SSN (example: student or fiance visa = you need to be on a work permit to get an SSN) no stimulus check for you. Not even a $1200 individual check. Unless you're military.
Glad they thought to include military, but excluding other couples is just wrong.

I hope there's a good investigation into removing Bright. He's so well qualified and he sounded the alarm about something that was promoted prematurely and very irresponsibly as a cure-all for this disease. ]

Wonderful to hear that early on Azar appointed a Labradoodle breeder as head of the pandemic task force. Aside from how I feel about overpriced designer mixed breeds (we're not even talking normal labradoodles, he was selling some labradoodle / cocker spaniel mix for big bucks), the guy has NO medical or public health background or qualifications whatsoever. This administration seems to have a penchant for appointing the least qualified candidate for important positions.

In this day and time, there are so many ways that voter fraud could happen by mail in ballots, well it is what it is, it will just be another disputed election with all kinds of fallout. I strongly oppose it, I can’t remember the exact poll, but I think it was 56% of voters approve of it, that is close to the division in the US.

I'm disappointed - I was hoping you'd give me some specifics - I gave you specific arguments why fraud would not be an issue. More opportunities for fraud and manipulation via tampering with voting machines or shutting down polling places in politically strategic districts.

If vote in person is all or partially retained, how do you feel about paper ballots instead of machines? That would eliminate electronic fraud and hacking.

Polls are only as good as the source that conducts them - not knowing the source I can't comment on that number...

why are you so certain that COVID will be here at election time??? I am hearing this a lot from people who are pro mail in ballot. The virus could be long gone by then. The confidence and optimism in the country appears at an all time low right now.

Look where we are now. Is there a treatment? Is there a vaccine? Do we even have adequate testing to know where we stand? NYC is starting to flatten the curve of the first wave. With over 800 COVID linked deaths here, my county seems to be levelling off also, but new hotspots are springing up. Apparently some people who have had it are coming up positive again. So much we don't know about this thing - until we have a viable treatment and/or an effective vaccine, we're not rid of it.

We will get rid of it eventually, but realistically it is going to take time.

People would be more confident if the white house demonstrated actual leadership, something that's seriously lacking.

On Twitter and Facebook, all kinds of comments about the guy being an animal, a bully, somebody who deserves to die..... all with no basis at all. At a glance, people just see a Trump supporter aggressively confronting a brave young healthcare worker, most likely in front of a hospital What a horrible man! And why isn't that police officer helping her?

Yet, another look, and you notice that she is the one with the hostile pose, while has his hands behind his back with his head slightly bowed. She is not at the hospital but at his protest as a counter-protestor. For all we know they are having a civil conversation. In fact it's likely, as her and her fellow counter-protestors all adopted that cross-arm pose, so it is not likely a reaction to this guy.

Apart from his sartorial crimes, he is completely innocent as far as we know.

And yet, this picture is here today - gone tomorrow. Nobody will know or care about the details. It will just form a lasting image in people's minds to remind them who the enemy are - their fellow citizens. And these images have been accumulating over the years to embed these impressions. Good luck rebuilding a country like that.

At a Gov building, not a hospital. Probably not a nurse or even a healthcare worker. Lot's of staged protest on both sides I think.

Real heroes are the moms who defy petty tyrants to take their kids to the park - imo.

I would have given examples and made a long list post, but I now know it wouldn’t do any good, our country is toxically divided and there is no bargaining table , So all this has to play out however it is going play out, I think ultimately we will fail as a country and I think we are past being able to fix that. It doesn’t matter who wins the 2020 election , we will still be doing this same shit we have been doing and absolutely zero gets accomplished in favor of the people of the country, ultimately it will be the people who pay the final price for hate and division

Yesterday's "All About Me" briefing showed once again how Trump is insane with himself and how he desperately tries to control the narrative regardless of the truth and facts.

He contradicts the experts right in front of their face and they have to correct him in front of the world.

I find it very elitist when all these people say "it's only money." To them I say: then give all yours away - think how many lives you can save. That matters more than your money, right?

And then we are back to the rather childish notion that "even one life lost is too much." It's a denial of reality, probably based on fear. A fairly natural fear, granted. But such a notion, ironically, will often cost more lives - to say nothing of quality of life. Being a grown-up means understanding there are trade-offs in life, and nothing is absolute.

so, a lot of the red states are opening, the blue states want to stay shut down, which is fine , stay shut down if that is what they want, but don’t think at all that the red states are going to pay your bills , not gonna happen

And in the second quote you say "there is no give and take with these people". You seem to be putting all the blame on them (the left) for not budging from their viewpoint and yet you haven't shown any indication of areas that you would give ground on in an effort to meet "in the middle."

Did I miss a post where you listed some specific things or ideals that the hard right was wrong about holding on to, which they could give up or relent on in order to find a middle ground?

If it is only one side giving anything up, then it isn't a middle ground. It is a surrender.
