Hi

For this, let's assume that .tel will not be a total flop.

What type of keywords will be most valuable for this extension? Will it be geographical keywords, like newyork.tel, losangeles.tel, etc, or what else?

Okay regarding SEO...
I thought someone mentioned 5 or 10 pages back if anyone could point at .tel domains being ranked at all in big searches.

Well I know a search for "henri" is stupid, but it's pretty big (67 million hits on google.com, 45 million on google UK). My personal henri.tel is now #23 on google.com and #9 on Google UK.

Now I do have an advantage over you guys in that henri.tel has been out there longer, which shows how much value Google puts in the age of a domain/page and the domain name itself.

But it's still fun to see henri.tel in there, along with Matisse, Becquerel and Cartier Bresson.
:)

how interesting, this is google keyword seo at work, although I am surprised it would put a one word xxx,xxx searched name that high. Very interesting. Looks like TLD doesnt matter!! I always thought .com got a subtle boost in seo.

Cheers,
Sam

When the showcase thread was merged it did
create confusion - I agree.

The topic is for the Discussion of .tel - now gearing towards
the development. The issues with getting them up and running
have been more than covered in the beginning of the thread

When you asked for people to post their short and numbered
.tel - the first response wasn't either - so rather than pages
of domains making it difficult to navigate, we'll keep it focused
moving forward. :)

saucey, the showcase thread turned into a discussion as well
but not for the regged domains being showcased, I got caught up
in it as well and posted where I shouldn't have. It was hard to
tell what thread we were in.

Thank you for the clarification.

Stocking up for the winter. :santa:

Actually the best 3letters are gone and whats left are letters that needs a home and if you can make sense of them its a sure bet. I'd give it until next pay day for it all to be gone. They're just waiting on the next check. :)

They are not completely gone yet. Of the 4913 LLL.TEL that use three premium letters (ABCDEFGHILMNOPRST), approximately 350-400 are left. The last time I checked, there were 409, but at least two dozen have been registered since then. I'll post a new list later today. :)

I must have missed some important stuff that would certainly be a game changer in my decisions. As far as development...what can a .tel owner do? I have been under the impression that "development" was off limits. If they can now be developed, the monetization issue is finally put to rest.

Surely you're not defining "development" as adding contact info or links?

My whole point is, throwing around this term can certainly be misleading...particularly to those new in the business.

I have been watching the gears turning from members to come up with suitable ways to make this TLD work for them. It's really interesting to see the open minds and ideas brought forth. Some are quite clever. However, if that .tel is indeed delegated to an "e-yellowpages", for any of these ideas to pay off, mass acceptance and exposure will be required. That's hard enough with alt extensions that can be truly developed, much less one so confined by it's restrictions.

You haven't missed anything. Except all the deleted posts.
The limitations on .tel are the same as far as I know.

I didn't mean adding contacts, that's not development and
that's covered in the beginning for anyone that needs help with it. :)

Mis_Chiff,

At one time, there was a .Tel showcase thread, but it got merged with this thread, now with no opportunity at all for showcasing domains (not necessarily selling).

Any possibility of getting another showcase thread for .tel? It seems that other TLDs have such a thread.

Thanks.

I can see some dot tel on Sedo featured homepage (not mine)
Looks like some dot tel have 1200+ visits, maybe a great way to advertise a domain for sale.

I think they'll list any domain there for 39 euros (is it just me or has that Sedo featured fee really gone up over they years!?)

You can use moniker bulk for scanning 500 names at a time ;)

You need to be signed into moniker to use this.

Got lyp.tel and syp.tel - since directories seem to be the focus, local yellow pages and simple yellow pages both work for me ;)

I really don't understand why everytime a gTld is out, everyone rush on 3 letter and think it worth $$$ when all gone, that's true for dot com but I don't see any end users going to buy these. But 4 letter are way better when itcan be pronounced, have a meaning. Also a lot of company have 4 letter in their name. I did reg some LLL.tel as "hyped by domainers" but don't think it worth something like a 4 letter, only LLL.tel that are words are valuable like flu, car, men...)
Also famous LLL.tel like cnn, hbo, ibm...are trademarks so what a waiste money.

I like short domains, resale is easy, specially for acros that make sense.

Also, .tel is being marketed also as a simple seo friendly directory tool. Yellow Pages fit right in.

SimpleYellowPages.tel or SYP.tel - What would you rather have?

lll.tel

I like the 3 letters... figure it is about the same to type them in on a alpha numeric key pad as a phone number. I think I counted "Alt.tel" to be 11 hits on the keypad.

I was going for the 3 letter words. jug, bop, alt... etc.

Excellent idea

For all of those interested, a social group has
been started for .Tel owners - thanks to iextreme :)

You can showcase your .Tel's (no active links please)
http://www.namepros.com/group.php?groupid=18

This is an excellent idea. But I've got one question for mod.
I own like hundreds of tel like many here. Is it against NP rules to list all of them will see like spam or we can? I think there should be some rules to define on that question if you don't want to see some flooding .tels on showcase group. Pease let us know your opinion.

Thanks
