Let’s start with the basics. There are 11,881,376 potential 5L.com combinations. However, there are only 3,200,000 “Chinese premium” (no a, e, i, o, u, or v) combinations.

It is quite obvious that all 5L.coms will not be bought out for years but most repeating schemas are currently taken.

Do I personally believe in these repeating schemas? Yes.

For the "L" type domains, meaning will always trump pattern.
This is particularly true for the Chinese market.

In your opinion what do you think will be worth more in 5 years 2 Letter .com or 5L.com Chinese ?
Like GemSpend.com or nhnjr.com ??

Who's talking about "2 Letter .com or 5L.com Chinese"?
The thread is about 5L patterns.

Wow! Nice math. And how enlightened I feel to know that there are only 3.2 million of them. That's pretty effing rare. Especially when you consider that there are about 350 million Americans. So if you took all of them and divvied them up among all the Americans, only 1 out of 109 people would get one. And when only 1 out of 109 people have something, that makes that "something" pretty effing rare. Especially when you start looking at diseases. But let's not look at diseases, and say that we did.

I say again. Any possible value that these things might have lies 100%, wholly and completely in the mind of the dreamers who are willing to pay as much as a penny for them. These concepts; these combinations of 1s and 0s in GoDaddy servers.

It's all well and good until the Chinese explode a nuclear bomb above the US atmosphere, creating an EMP that wipes out all electronics. And then all the domainers are like, "I wish that instead of spending a bunch of money buying mere concepts--intangible ideas, which there are 3.2 million of--which doesn't really make them all that effing rare at all--I wish that instead of wasting my money on domain names that might make the Chinese happy, I had spent my money on Raman Noodles, because now there's a major food shortage and no one cares about Chinese-flavored domain names.

DOMAINING is getting UGLY.
Since the chinese started buying short numerical or LL.com, LLL.com & LLLL.com al marketplaces are stuffed with UGLY domains like, PKRQ.com, 04123 etc ... I really miss those times whem people where searching for nice combinations of dictionary words: DataCenter.com , FreeMovies.com etc ... Now everything is just about "chinese PREMIUM letters" X, Y, Z, Q etc ... resulting in horrible vision of millions of domain names that change hands in daily battles (between domainers) at the auctions held by major marketplaces. If you take a look at SEDO´s homepage you will understand what I´m saying ... and that all the same with GoDaddy, NameJet, DropCatch, SnapNames etc ... Nobody plays attention to nice looking domain name (talking about dictionary words and combinations), all run to register 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and even longer numerical dot COMs. It´s such a pain ...

Bad timing for people who put they money in brandable domains instead of short and numerics indeed.
But markets known for changing directions quickly and now could be good time to get brand name for cheap and benefit later when they pop up.
You never know.

Surely, it's not that bad...

The "battles" are fought mainly between domainers.
The "nice combinations" are still being bought by the end users from outside of China.

One can participate in the rush, or watch from the sidelines.
I do both, intermittently...

well i think this highlights a possible problem with the domain market in general. If it weren't for some ugly combinations things wouldn't look so good. Exact match and genericals are not doing as well as they seemed to do if the Chinese market crashes what's left?

As always you're ignorance amuses me.

This isn't about random Chinese Premium domains. This is about patterned domains, which range from 650 combinations to around 17,500.

Hate on, hater.

Man, you are mad as a hatter - but I almost agree with you. Well maybe not about the ramen part - I'll stick with rice and beans.
So much money invested in what is indeed just a few 1s and 0s.
And not even 1s an 0s that can be used for a website. Just ugly, useless "pet rocks".

I hand reg a LLLLL.com today, it was a dropped domain... I believe it has some ROI potential as the Chinese love celebrating the New Year... It would make a great Chinese New Year gift store website IMO...
