There used to be a time when one of the criticisms of .tv was that 'nobody had even heard of it'.
Watching TV last night I realised how massively things have changed.
In the UK, Saturday night is 'owned' by the ITV network - which essentially comprises ITV in England, Ulster TV in Northern Ireland and Scottish TV in Scotland.
They have all the 'big' shows lined up for Saturday Night and Sunday night - one of which is The X-Factor
While watching a bit of the show last night I notice that they send viewers to one of the three websites for each of the TV companies that make up the ITV Network (Who run the show) - ITV goes to ITV.com but the other two go to U.tv and STV.tv
TWO of the three websites being put on front of tens of millions of people and the networks are happy to use the .TV
Plus almost a quarter of all ads with a web address on UK television now use websites with a .tv ending
This doesn't make .TV any more valuable - but is a statement of the reality/validity/growth of .tv names
