Big TV networks are getting more and more enthusiastic about the .tv extension. They're developing and promoting more .tv sites than ever before.

We all know that the value of .tv domains in the future really depends on .tv awareness. The more average Internet users will be aware and used to going to .tv sites, the more type-in traffic .tv domains will get and the more valuable they will become.

Because of their massive advertising budgets and because of the amount of time average people spend in front of TV everyday, it will be key to watch how much those big TV networks invest in .tv in the future and how many .tv sites they will develop and promote.

I've tried to start a list of some of the .tv sites that have been developed and promoted by big TV networks, both in the US and the UK.

If you notice other .tv sites developed and promoted by big TV networks now and in the future, it would be great if you could add them to this thread. They could be either TV channels or specific TV shows from these big networks.

Guys, it's all very nice to discuss the weather in beautiful Australia, but it would be great if we could get back on topic. :)

I've just found another TV channel from the Fox network which is using a .tv domain for its main website too :

FUEL TV
http://www.fuel.tv

There are more and more .tv domains being used by TV channels and TV shows. That's excellent to raise .tv awareness. :tu:

I'd guess that maybe a few players knew enough about it to be able to buy one if they wanted but overall awareness was pretty thin. Hell, back in '98 most folks didnt even know how to buy a .com.

I don't think anyone's going to be handing out awards either for the way .tv was rolled out to market. There is still a great deal of confusion due to the premium status of a relatively small number of names.

One thing for sure, if .tv were a brand new extension being released today it would probably be one of the most talked about things in the industry. Excitement would be HUGE! So whats the real difference?

Bingo

Exactly.

The thing that blows me away,...is how people fail to comprehend, that MILLION and BILLION dollar media companies DO NOT CARE about Tuvalu, period.

It is what it is. The premium system is a 21st century "tax that ass" mentality. Great domains SHOULD have premium prices. Would it really make sense otherwise? Verisign (although sometimes unorganized) is not stupid. They knew with time, education, technology and development--E V E R Y O N E would jump on board and ride the wave. The funny thing is, the wave hasn't even started.

Many, many more things to come, and congratulations to *everyone who didn't listen to the naysayers and invested heavily in premium (by nature, not price) .TV domain names. You will be rewarded.

I agree 1,000% Jeff. You don't *need a classified "premium" domain to be successful.

Biloxi.TV is a prime example.

However, the majority of domains that will be developed into actual businesses will more than likely be a premium via Enom/Verisign.

You can add the site I have been talking about: www.PacificNetwork.TV - it is funded by Time Warner Telecom.

Thanks for your posts !

I've just updated the list and added the .tv sites you mentioned :
http://www.fuel.tv
http://www.fox8.tv (Australia)
http://www.lx.tv
http://www.pacificnetwork.tv

I've also added the main website of Channel 4 International. That's the production company which is responsible for the worldwide exploitation of programme rights from the Channel 4 network (UK).

It's very interesting that they're actually using a .tv domain for their main website. Let's hope that other media production companies will follow. :)

"Mock The Week" is a popular satirical comedy show from the BBC here in the UK. And it's another good example of a popular tv show which has chosen a .tv domain for its main website.

I expect to see many more big tv shows using the brandability and the power of .tv to promote themselves in the years to come.
