Big TV networks are getting more and more enthusiastic about the .tv extension. They're developing and promoting more .tv sites than ever before.

We all know that the value of .tv domains in the future really depends on .tv awareness. The more average Internet users will be aware and used to going to .tv sites, the more type-in traffic .tv domains will get and the more valuable they will become.

Because of their massive advertising budgets and because of the amount of time average people spend in front of TV everyday, it will be key to watch how much those big TV networks invest in .tv in the future and how many .tv sites they will develop and promote.

I've tried to start a list of some of the .tv sites that have been developed and promoted by big TV networks, both in the US and the UK.

If you notice other .tv sites developed and promoted by big TV networks now and in the future, it would be great if you could add them to this thread. They could be either TV channels or specific TV shows from these big networks.

I personally think the title is misleading at least slightly.

The big 3, NBC, CBS, and ABC really are NOT getting into tv, and I can state that for specifically one of them knowing an insider directly involved with the game there.

The ones related to them are affiliates and not the companies themselves. That isn't to say they aren't aware of it, they just don't see it the same way as others do that .tv is the natural extension.

To be fair, from what I have heard, the feeling is that they could legally shut down anyone that infringed on their works, so they just stick with .com instead for know. Another statement I heard was this, verbatim: "Content is King, and we produce it and have it on our site, so why bother with this unknown crap?"

Take it with a grain of salt, and know that I was a little surprised by the comment as well. But now that I have talked to quite a few of them at that company, I think it will be a long time before the biggest networks jump in. The cable networks on the other hand, may force them to jump faster then they want to.

The major networks in the US may be slow to adopt, but globally you have major networks using .tv eg. Five.tv, and so many others, so its not misleading..

In europe old media has really adopted .tv, in the US its the new media companies. I think the major networks in the US will come around, and i agree about the cable companies eg. tnt.tv, helping out with this process.

If you look, newspapers purchased many geo.com. I think newspapers will purchase geo .tv. Spartanburg.tv is owned by the newspaper. Triad.tv by the newspaper. HamptonRoads.tv - the newspaper.

A fair number of great .TV in Europe are owned byNewspapers or new media companies judging by the 100's of whois checks i done last week.
Most bought to develop so id expect geo .TV's too be popping up all over in the next year or two.
