For the new year I dropped and plan to drop a number of VR domains.

Who is with me on this one?

Any one else dropping some VR domains in 2018?

No; none. I'm the exact opposite.

I prey on the impatient; feel free to send me a list of the names your dropping if your seriously switching gears or truly disregard VR's potential that strongly.

With that said: My advice; hold the strong keyword names and no reserve auction (bundle) the weak.

Anyone holding any strong keyword VR names is not waking up to 2018 with thoughts of dropping them and then asking who is with them. No one. Just my 2 cents.

Best of luck in 2018:cigar:

I don't think we will be using the term as much as actually using the technology. I don't think anyone will say... let me take the vr call as much as let me take the call.

When vr becomes common place I think the terminology vr in itself will become obsolete because it will just be expected. Very similar to www, there is no reason to say that ever.

Now I do agree with you that the strong VR names will have a market but there are millions of pretty pathetic vr domains registered and I predict a lot of those will fall by the way side.

Simple logic.. People won't drop "GREAT" domains.
If you decided to drop then it is a not Great domain so you can just mention dropping domains are having VR keyword in it (LOL)

Actually, all you have to do is look at namepros, lots of vr for sale, very little activity.

I think the entire VR domain mindset is grossly overated. There may be a handful of domains with actual value but the rest is pure speculation and the only ones profiting from the vr craze are the registries.

Imo, problem with vr is the similar techs that belong to the same family and do similar things only slightly different (from a consumer's endpoint). I'm talking about MR, AR, ER and all xR terminologies.

What I think is, when xR becomes really popular, a new name will emerge describing everything in one.

Or no name at all, when everything is vr we are still going to say call me not vrcall me. Lets watch some vr tv while we're at it. I don't think so, in a few years vr tv's will take over and be referred to simply as tv's. Same went with hd.... lets go watch some hd tv right?

I think as domainers we are optimistic that these phrases catch on and for all our sake's it would be nice but I'm not investing any more money into them. In my case the domains I have made the most money on were always direct business name hits and I am going to re-focus on that for 2018. I just sold a 5 letter .ca for $1,500 that I have only owned for a week. I simply sent out an email, stayed reasonably priced and the domain was gone.

I dropped a lot, problem is that much shite got registered with people thinking any keyword would sell if it had VR at the side of it, i think people now realise that's not the case.

I’d consider dropping a lot of average domains, but not sure how you can compare VR next to technologies that have been and gone such as CD and DVD.

VR itself has all the world’s biggest companies involved in it, CES (the world’s biggest tech show) is next week and that will be dominated by VR just as it was last year, so think that shows the tech itself is still ‘the future’ but still in its infancy.

People thought that VR is the new big step of progress in the industry, but then some slowly started to realize that VR is purely just a visual gimmick.

I'm holding all of mine. The key with VR games, shows, products, education, medicine...etc, by using the term VR in the language, it covers any liability that happens afterwards. Anyone using it will know it's virtual...even though it may seem extremely real. That's why I think AR will be a tougher sell, because it's a combo of real and virtual. AR will do well in shopping and many cases, but as a domain name, won't have as much demand.
