Hi everyone! The 3D market appears to be exploding! Record takes at the box office by movies such as Avatar and Alice in Wonderland and the announcement this week of the new 3D TV which is set to hit markets shortly have helped buoy interest in 3D multimedia platforms. Even the major American television network NBC has jumped in and will be broadcasting the NCAA Final Four basketball games in 3D!

A direct beneficiary from this renewed interest and greatly improved 3D technology is the domain business. Some of you had foresight many years ago and reg'd great names early on. Others (myself included) have only become aquainted with 3D domaining more recently, but see the huge potential this market has opened up for domainers.

Let this be the place for you to show off your 3D domain names. Ask for opinions, marketing strategies or even an appraisal or guesstimation of value. Also, feel free to post any relevant news releases/articles related to the 3D industry.

When I first saw "Playa" I thought you meant playa as in Spanish for "beach".

Hmmm, beach babes in 3d! Me likee... Would love to see some 3D action shots of womens' beach volleyball.

Might keep this in mind in case the whole "playa=player" substitution thing doesn't work out.

Thanks for the input... as the playa=beach aspect is a nice bonus.

I reg'd "Playa" and "Playas" so, if I dev, one can be used for 'place' and the other for 'people'.

On the Playa=Place side... I'm thinking a 3D site on the Playa at Burning Man.
And Playas would be used for 3D Playas... from gear to gamers. The fact that its slang makes it more brandable, IMO.

This has opened up 1000's more domain name opportunities i'd never thought of.i'm going to reg 3d--fights.com, my thinking being that the two hyphens could represent boxing gloves touching before the start of a fight.

I will also say, just to be clear, that there are some very good domains posted in this thread. Just not ... a lot.

And in my defence, perhaps I don't pay close enough attention to fads, but it's hard to think of any other buzzword in recent memory that has so captured the minds and wallets of the domaining public. I hope whomever came up with this is getting massive kickbacks from GoDaddy, Namecheap et al. for the sudden uptick in revenues.

135,000 exact serches per month for 3d porn , why ? because it's a specific niche people wish to see , so by including 3d in the title you are helping to establish the exact content of the site , one that comes to mind is '3dsupermodels/com' .........this is a very adult orientated site that is making a nme for itself by beoing in the 3d niche

It may turn out there will be sites offering 3d movies online and other other sites just offering 2d movies online , so if your after 3d movies a site named '3d movie club' will be your first choice

The marketing of 3d at the moment is something that is just at the beginning , i know that if i am seeking 3d games to download or play or test i will certainly be looking for 3d games in my search

It's a long way from being web 3d , so at this point it's a good marketing tool ......3D

Some good keywords in this one.....and it makes sense.

3dpictureviewer and 3dphotoviewer are taken and "image" is more flexible. There is software with this exact keyword usage and with cameras being able to take 3d pictures/photos it was the next best thing, if not better because of possible uses with various 3d tech. Present and future.

In the old days (1800's to early 1900's) 3d was referenced as being "stereoview" before they knew it was basically 3d technology.
