Hello everyone,

I think this is the longest gap I’ve taken in between two posts but I’m sure this will come as a surprise to many of my fellow domain investors that I’m leaving Afternic.com

As many of my readers know that since January 2020, I’ve been using Afternic.com price request lander. It’s been almost 6 years using them and I had an overall great experience. With all the challenges and ups and downs including economic crisis and uncertainty in global market due to wars, I still had many extra ordinary months with the help of Afternic team. It was really nice working with so many Afternic brokers and especially my rep Adam Ramsdell who did all his best he could to get the maximum sales out of my portfolio. I sincerely appreciate Adam and the entire team whoever was involved in getting the sales happen smoothly.

There are two main reasons for leaving Afternic:

  1. I’m no longer interested in paying any commission.
  2. Like the way I opted Afternic from Uniregistry, now I would like to prefer handling and managing the portfolio and leads myself.
Overall, it’s been a rollercoaster ride with a lot of inconsistencies which I believe is part of the business especially domain investing. It took a lot of time to think and decide about this decision but I believe now is the right time to go and move onto the next level of my domaining journey.

Currently I’m in the process of trying something new and I’ll share more details in my next post, so stay tuned.

Thank you!

Search your email for FAO; you'll see what I mean if you have ultra premium domains.

Brokers/buyers will use various methods to try to reach domain owners, such as prepending these to the domain they want:
  • postmaster@
  • hostmaster@
  • webmaster@
  • www@
  • abuse@
  • security@
  • noc@
  • info@
  • sales@
  • support@
  • contact@
  • admin@
  • owner@
  • legal@
  • copyright@
  • privacy@
  • dpo@
  • gdpr@
  • dmca@

I recall seeing public examples in UDRP cases and forum threads. Unfortunately, there isn't an easy way to search for them without getting a lot of unrelated results.

They better to know the answer than us 😀
But so many people simply ask for anything like laptop purchase, repairing stuff, medical, refunds, etc.
Now that you mention it, I need a new laptop, where can i contact you?

I suppose he's making the right choice; marketplaces can be a nightmare at times. If I could create my own card processing system like Stripe without relying on any 3rdparty platform for cc processing, I would definitely do it.

@alcy,

did u know afternic has 5% checkout link if u bring your lead?

I used that service, and my payout has been in process for a month and two weeks. Every time I reach out, they provide different excuses. That was my first sale, and it was painful...

Initially, I thought the processing time for payouts was unusually long, especially since I had selected an ach option. But an experienced colleague informed me that it doesn’t actually take that long.
I hope they review this and proceed with the payment or release the domain. I give my tithes, and no one can take what's mine...

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to follow up on my earlier comment regarding the delayed payment. I received my payment.

Everything's good now.

I am grateful. Thx

“I plan to continue using NamePros lander for the time being and will give one suggestion to the NamePros team and that’s to build lander stuff completely unlinked from the NamePros forum.”

Completely agree, it’s something I’ve suggested many times

He goes thru it some on his site - https://www.abdulbasit.com/domaining/moved-all-domains-to-namepros-lander

"I tried Efty lander for a little over a month and it was a good experience. But because I wanted to try and see which one works well, I’m now trying NamePros lander. Efty provided great support especially Doron who did his best to guide and explain anything I needed, they’ve got plenty of nice features and lander options to choose from. They even have Smart Landers to create your own. I even used EftyPay but unfortunately I cannot disclose any details about the domain name but it was a surprising sale. Doron helped in settling this transaction very smoothly and professionally for which I’m very much thankful for him and his services."

Yes. Please note that AbdulBasit is a true gentleman. Afternic also received many thanks in the opening post. Let's see what sticks.

One month doesn't seem like enough time to really tell if it's effective or not.

The question remains: how did Efty compare to Afternic in terms of relative sales volume, not lander experience?

I generally agree when it comes to testing lander or any marketplace. When I switched to Afternic for the first time in 2020, my plan was to give them at least 6 months and see how it goes. But that was a lot different than simply trying Efty lander which was good enough time to understand.... at least for me.

Yeah, that's the main question and I plan to share the details early next year when I've more data.

As long as you can get over the fact that leads only matter if they are real humans, you will be able to kick the afternic addiction. If you won't be able to get over that, you will be back at afternic soon. It's very hard to see a lot of leads come in every day and then move to another lander and see a fraction amount of leads. Even if you know those other leads were junk, most people still prefer seeing action, even fake action, than understanding quality matters.

I agree with you. Many people would want to see junk/fake leads in action but I'm happy that spam is reduced a lot after moving to NamePros lander and surprisingly a lot less spam at WhatsApp as well.
