Sorry to hear @fattee77, hope all ends well.

I had no idea that even in an industry (established and worth billions) where a digital paper-trail exists, there is no solution to remedy a dispute like theft. I would imagine an example of something like:

If ownership is queried, the complainant legally reports the issue with local authorities, then provide the "case number" to the current registrar. The onus then lies on the new DN owner "if DN was acquired in the last x-amount of days" to provide the necessary proof-of-purchase for the DN, within x-amount of days - failure of which would result in the DN returned to previous owner, who will need to provide last proof-of-payment (we all simply keep record of our proof-of-payments).

Small price to pay in the form of inconvenience, when compared to being a victim of daylight robbery where everyone standing by can do nothing but observe. Anyway, what a lesson for a newbie like me :!:

@David Walker, would enabling the 2fa be a guarantee (done and dusted implementation) that one's domain name is secure (provided that one's actual mobile phone is not stolen)?

Thank you for all the selfless contributions from all participants in this thread, very refreshing.

Regards
Clint

Thanks Clint. Still waiting for reply from the involved parties.

How did they get into your account?

Unbelievably "helpful" response I received from Namesilo. Can't believe they are actually saying this:

Van: NameSilo Support - 7 Datum: 24 mei 2016 13:12:24 CESTAan: Fatih Turna Onderwerp:Antw.: Aqm . com stolen

We will not keep replying with the same information. For the last time, you need to work through Enom. You have no affiliation with our company and have never been a Registrant in our system. We therefore have no standing to get involved on your behalf. Feel free to send this to anyone else you like, but the answer will not change, and we will not continue replying with the same instructions. Sorry you do not like our answer, but that does not mean it will change.

Thanks,

I did that already and they are on it. I want Namesilo to look into it as well. I am sending this to Chris McCurry as well.

But the domain was fraudulently transferred from Enom to Namesilo?

I'm sure NameSilo get 100s of emails per month from shady users who are trying to get hold off domains by every trick in the book. I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt it seems you have a legitimate claim, however they don't know this. My advice would be don't burn the bridge with NameSilo, just follow it up with Enom and let Enom liaise with NameSilo. Although this has never happened to me, it's just my opinion.

Good luck, I hope you get your domain back.

I am not sure yet
Possibly you would be using the same password on multiple domain registration sites.. ( OR ) run a keylogger on your computer.
Now a days anything is possible in the cybernet.

Can anybody recommend an affordable lawyer who can file a case in Virginia/Washington?

No lawyers are affordable. Better to just get a good one with history in the field. He can take 1 day while a cheap lawyer may take months. Ask for history of what they have done in the past.

If Ename never works with registrars to return stolen domains, why/how are they still allowed by ICANN?

Good to see at least that the domain theft is getting some publicity, will make it harder for the thief to sell the domain.

I hope you get it sorted -- very stressful. Good luck.

Best,
