Has anyone else got this from Spaceship.com

Your account has been flagged​

Dear mayhem,
It has come to our attention that your xxxmayhemxxx Spaceship account is in violation of our promotional pricing usage terms.

Please ensure that limited promotion codes are used only once per household. Repeatedly transferring in domains solely to use the codes, without intent to renew, is also prohibited.
If your account is flagged again, we will be forced to restrict the usage of all future promotions and/or coupons.

To be 100% clear I am not abusing promotional codes. I have one Spaceship.com account only and abide by that policy.

TBH I do not know what the heck they are talking about.

I recently transferred a bunch.. ok probably a lot of domains out of there and got an email inquiring as to why and 'how we can improve' etc and just before I got the above.. got another follow up to ask they can improve their service.. lol.. maybe don't threaten your customers!?? that could be a good start!

Should I reply to their email asking how they can improve their service with a link to this thread?

And to be clear.. I register AND renew a tonn of domains with Spaceship.. not even cheap .com's but expensive renewals.. so this is really rich (pun intended) coming from them

After receiving the message "Your account has been flagged," I noticed the statement: "If your account is flagged again, we will be forced to restrict the usage of all future promotions and/or coupons." Shortly after, I received another message saying "Your account has been restricted."

So, I have not been flagged again; my account is already restricted. The domains I transferred in a year ago have now expired, and I am not renewing them through Spaceship. Yet, they claimed I have abused the promo code

I am frustrated because I spoke with several customer service representatives, and finally, a representative named starting with "D" kept copying and pasting the same unhelpful responses, just like a bot and said "The decided that was final ."

What I understand is that there is no limit to using discount codes to transfer in domains. However, I have never heard that after transferring a domain in, I must renew it through Spaceship. If I transfer out a domain that has expired, that is considered abuse โ€” which is ridiculous. The domains are expired, there are cheaper prices elsewhere, and you still donโ€™t allow the transfer out?

I understand that you do this to save costs, but please just post on NamePros to warn users: if they transfer domains using a discount code, when the domains expire, they must renew them at Spaceship. If they do not renew, that is considered abuse of the discount code.

As per our policies, promotional codes are limited to one use per household. Additionally, repeatedly transferring in domains solely to take advantage of promo codes, without the intent to renew them, is considered a violation of our terms.

Please note, this does not restrict your ability to transfer domains in or out at their standard pricing. It only applies to cases where the promo code system is used in a way thatโ€™s inconsistent with its intended purpose.

I have received once such email from Sav, this is probably for security reasons, when they see we come for cheap transfers, then move out for other cheap transfers, they give such warning. That is why such registrar as UD have in place a policy, they say straight, if you transfer to us at discount, you must keep and renew those domains for another year, else pay us back the discounted money before you move again out.

If this is the restriction you mentioned, then I have indeed violated your rules. However, the domains owned by SPACESHIP are contributed by people like us. I am just very disappointed that such a restriction exists.

Iโ€™ve looked into how Spaceshipโ€™s system works, and itโ€™s not really about a single coupon like COMTR being "one-time only." From what I understand, the system looks at overall patterns - for example, if domains are transferred in with discounts but then mostly transferred out again instead of being renewed, that account may get flagged.

The emails they send are generic (so they mention one-time promos and transfer patterns), which can be confusing if you didnโ€™t actually use limited-use coupons. The best way to avoid further flags seems to be keeping some renewals with them, not just transfers in/out. That shows longer-term engagement.

Itโ€™s definitely fair to ask for support to recheck your case if you feel youโ€™ve renewed or purchased enough to show that youโ€™re not just moving domains around for discounts. From what Iโ€™ve seen, they do sometimes downgrade accounts back to โ€œmonitoringโ€ if thereโ€™s evidence of real portfolio spend.

I can no longer take advantage of the discounted domain transfers; price is important because I have many domains. Are there any other registrars you can recommend?
