I just tried Spaceship.com. They're a NameCheap brand and launched their beta. I think they rightfully deserve a thread on NP to discuss our experiences with their new registrar.

Remember, it's still in beta so do expect some glitches, work to be done... Would be cool in someone from NC would care to chip in :) @tamar

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

I have had problems getting an invoice after adding funds to Good as Gold at GoDaddy. Quite amazing that the world's largest registrar doesn't automatically produce one.
GoDaddy also doesn't spell out what they're paying you for. You get a generic email message that says "A payment was sent to you today by ACH" ... with no mention of what it's for.

I avoid GD like the plague. Haven't held a domain there for many years. Thank you for supporting my decision. :)

I had a chat with support and here is how the whole thing works:

1. No invoices for paying money to top-up the account.
In other words, if you happen to add $1k now and spend that money to buy 100 domains next year (ie. 100 small invoices), prepare a hefty work bonus to your accountant if he manages to handle the mess for providing invoices of next year for something that shows in the bank this year.

2. As mentioned, receipts can be issued for each purchase using the account funds *but* it doesn't work automatically; we need to add the details manually at the time of the transaction by clicking the appropriate button. If, for any reason, we omit that step then the invoice *will not* contain our details (ie. it will be an unusable, devoid of details, receipt) and the only solution is to contact support for them to add the necessary details manually.

3. When I asked them what happens with transactions that the user is not present to click the 'add details' button (eg. in the case of auto-renewals) their response was that, in that case, the order is generated without an invoice address which means we need -again- to contact them to set up the invoice properly.

This is way too messy for my liking. I planned to add Spaceship to the small list of registrars I use regularly but, until they fix this mess, that is not going to happen.

SPSCOMTR no longer works to transfer more than a single domain, anyone knows other working codes? There is nothing on X. @Spaceship

Go to Domain Manager > Filters > Click on Auto-Renew On > Check All Domains > Click Disable Auto-Renew on Right Panel

Yeah, but obviously that won't affect future domains, just the current ones.

Thanks. But I want to set the default to off so I don't have to do this task all the time. Is there a way?

This coupon can be used once per customer for a single .com transfer. If you've already used it, it won't apply again.

apparently they've changed the terms without notice

for reference

There are no restrictions on this coupon, so it can be used for multiple transfers.

Good shout registrar reviews are always more useful when they come from actual hands-on experience rather than marketing copy. Curious what your first impressions have been so far, especially on the basics: transfer process, DNS management UI, and whether support has been responsive given it's still beta. Would be interesting to hear if NC's existing user base gets any kind of migration path or perks once this comes out of beta, or if it's positioned as a totally separate product.

So, it is no longer possible to transfer bulk .com domains into Spaceship for $8.17?

Just checked — still active as of now. SPSCOMTR code is still pulling $8.17 for .com transfers, renewal's sitting at $10.18/yr which is well below market average. No indication it's been pulled or changed recently based on what I'm seeing.

I reported last Thursday that it only works once now, even Spaceship confirmed it, how @amsdomains22 is saying the opposite? Checked where? I just tried and it no longer provides discount (after 1 transfer).
