Let me explain my situation to you. I run a fansite that gathers a fair amount of attention. The website is indexed by Google (it comes up on the first page of the search results when searched for "Hilary Duff" via Google USA & UK), MSN, AOL etc.

However, Yahoo doesn't index it. My domain is: http://hduffworld.com. It doesn't index it at all - on any page. Even when I search "HDuffWorld", it doesn't show HDuffWorld.Com in the search results. I've searched through NP and most people have problems with Google indexing...for me, it's Yahoo.

When I type in my whole domain (with the .COM) in the search box, it does show the result, however, it doesn't show my META Description and it doesn't display the title I have (in <title> </title>). The domain for the website has been bought from Yahoo! as a registar - could that be a problem?

Any help is appreciated as I feel I'm losing visits due to Yahoo not indexing my website.

Here is a link to the search results for 'hduffworld.com':
http://search.yahoo.com/search;_ylt...=yfp-t-501&ei=UTF-8&fp_ip=IN&rd=r1&meta=vc=in
(as you can see, the title that appears in the search results is "hilary duff world" - which is not my title).

do you have a robots file and xml sitemap all setup properly? also verify / add your site to yahoo's "my sites."

I'm very new at this, so I don't have much knowledge about robots txt file (all I know is that it's used to disable bots from crawling onto certain pages). From the responses I've come across, it seems that my website is penalized? That too, for no apparent reason. I have sent Yahoo a request to re-include my website, but I'm not sure how successful that will turn out to be.

Your robots file will be at http://hduffworld.com/robots.txt

Okay now for yahoo. I think maybe it might still be having the older page cached. Could be the case. If you have some RSS feeds or something then add them to My Yahoo in your account. Also add the urllist.txt file which could be generated via xml-sitemaps.com

Add your site in yahoo site explorer.

Best thing to do = Search for your keyword in yahoo. Go and visit the first 50 websites that are returned in results and try to exchange links with atleast 5 of them. DONE.

I thought that placing link from the well indexed wenb site will help you greately with getting indexed ASAP. So it is not true isn't it?

Thanks for the responses, everyone.

Nick - I do exchange links with many (over 5, definitely) of the websites that come up when the appropriate keywords are entered. I will try generating the xml sitemap, and will also try adding it to yahoo.

Weblord - yes, that's the only time my website appears in the index. As Nick said, it's possible it may have my old page cached. The strange thing is, it doesn't index any other pages of my website either - like Google does.

~ServerPoint~ - My website has been running for nearly 4 years, so it obviously isn't new. It receives up to 7-10,000 uniques daily, which is quite fair (considering it's a fansite). Yahoo SHOULD have indexed it, but it hasn't. Must be some kind of a banning?

Also, Nick, how can I add my urllist.txt to My Yahoo?

You can just submit your site to yahoo : http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/

Also you must make sure that before you submit that you are definitely not indexed. After submitting your website try not to submit again. :D
