Hello everyone

As stated in the title I would like to buy domains, to sell them ofc, and I'm still hesitant as I'm afraid to buy domains that will turn out to be just a waste of money. By thinking outside of the box I found some good .com domains that are exact match, some of them are 2 words domains, after I estimate their value on Afternic many of them have an estimated value over $1000. Do you think is it a good idea to rely on Afternic estimated value to buy these domains or should I look into other criteria?

I'd be grateful we can discuss this, and I'm sorry if my question was already covered on the forum.

Hold on to your money Pal. Both of your ideas are already doomed to failure.

Welcome to the forum. Those estimates are almost meaningless, unfortunately. And there is no such thing as thinking outside the box to find two word domains to sell. The market is flooded. There are billions of domain names, and nearly as many domainers.

If you’re interested in learning more about domaining, I encourage you to. Just know that it’s not at all what you think it is right now. This is no longer the 90’s. I missed that boat, too.

When buying exact match domains, ask yourself: " Do I know what kind of product or service I can tell from just looking at the domain name?"

If no (or you have to explain in detail to people about it), then it is likely that the resale value won't be in the $x,xxx range. There are exceptions but of course, we don't rely on luck to succeed in domain investing.

*disclaimer: this is my personal opinion*

I bought A LOT of exact match domains.
A) they didn’t make as much on bodis parking as I thought they would
B) you need the exact person wanting that exact thing if you want to resell
C) google has started to take a dislike to EMDs as it sees them as spammy (this is the main reason I got rid of most of mine).

So, please, look at something else! If you don’t want to waste money, consider 4L domains.
