Hello Everyone,

I've been getting really confused and anxious when looking for niches.

Here are my questions, all regarding Exact Match or Exact Keyword Domains.

  1. In equal conditions, do Exact Match domain names rank better than other sites?.

Example, (and I'm not considering the competition since it's not the factor I evaluate here) if I get cheapflowers.com and onlyflowers.com . Will the first site rank better than the second if I send equal amount/quality of links to the site for the search "Cheap Flowers" (considering that all links have the same anchor text)?

  2. Regarding the same example, when looking at cheap flowers, there are similar searches, but adding 1 more word, for example

    Cheap Flowers sending
    Cheap Flowers Online
    Cheap Flowers On Line
Cheap Flowers to Order . ETC.....

Considering than all these keywords are longer and less searched, but meaning the same as Cheap Flowers, is it worth developing exact match domains for these keywords?

It gets confusing because every search could be considered a sub niche and be developed, even with a few thousand estimated searches monthly. And all of them meaning the exact same thing

Getting the exact keyword as the domain name is best when looking at SEO, but these days it is almost impossible to get short and snappy .com domain names.A good idea is to use your main keyword and put something like tips, info or page after it.

It does not necessarily have to be a .com domain, you will notice that cheaper domains like .biz or .info may be available for your main keyword.

It all comes down to how you do your link building and what kind of content you have on your site.It is useless to get a domain name unless you know you are going to rank in the search engines.I recommend doing keyword research first. There are a few good tools available, like Micro Niche Finder and Market Samurai.

For SEO ranking, the domain name is a factor, but I consider it a small factor. If you are developing a site, you can get anything to rank for the keywords with links and good SEO methods. The domain benefit can easily be overcome by all the additional things you can optimize for.

It's much more of a factor for domain parking where you have little or nothing to optimize with since you don't have a real site. Then the keywords in the domain are a much larger factor. In fact, getting parked domains to rank for their keywords doesn't happen a lot, but it's something we have specialized in.

So when looking for a domain name to make into a site, I would pick something that looks good with good meaning, at least some search traffic, but also a nice bid price. Choose low traffic, high bid price or high traffic and low bid price and both should be good. If you find some with high traffic and high bid price, send me the list and I will see if they are something you should get... :)

THANKS a lot for your answers.

Here is one more. Let's say I want to develop a quick site, nothing too important, but still one that would get a nice amount of traffic monthly, lets say that the amount of competitors is at mid level and that I do have the exact match. I Don't want to build a brand, let's suppose just sell some guides like ANYCITYguides.com .

IN THEORY, I'll be easier to rank for ANY CITY GUIDES if I have the exact keyword? (always considering I'm developing the site, not just squatting it)

If you have the exact keywords in a domain for some query that is an "exact match", then the domain should be easier to rank and find. But what I said still applies as far as I know. The keywords in a domain help the page for that domain to rank for those keywords, but the effect is small and can be passed by "junk.com" if junk.com has better SEO and backlinks.

I see now. Thanks again.

I suppose that it only helps you ranking a little and it depends on the competition for keywords.
