Should contact info be updated at the registrar of origin even if the domain has left it?

Hi /

Could you guys please share some knowledge on situations like this?

I'm selling a domain to another person who has a Godaddy acct, originally the domain was at another registrar (Mydomain.com) so we had to transfer it to Godaddy, now looks like it's been transferred to Godaddy, according to whois, but the contact info is still mine.

The buyer tried to change the contact data, I received emails that said "Please approve your contact info update." but when I clicked on the button (I was logged in my Godaddy account) I got a message that said "Given request is invalid. If you feel this is incorrect please try again.". The person who's receiving the domain tried resendning the email but the result was the same.

Godaddy support told me I should update the contact data at the registrar of origin, although the domain is now effectively at Godaddy. To me it sounds like BS. What should I do?

Wait for a day and then try again. If not, ask GD to check where the domain is registered and they'll realize that the domain is with GD

So many problems with Go Daddy. I'm surprised that people still use them.
