Not one of these bids has hit the reserve yet...
I hope something sells here.

Nice traffic on Stream.tv .

I'm hearing more buzz on the street regarding .TV, outside of the domainer community. Professionals and executives acknowledging that they are seeing more .TVs popping up.

Hopefully some end users will find their way to the auction.

I'm surprised the reserves are so high. I'm really surprised that sedo accepted them with such high reserves :o

wow stream and digital both at 24k

If I owned digital.tv or stream.tv Id sell them for 24k each.. Each to their own ofcourse, but in this global economy Id be waving bye bye and rubbing my hands.

I would contact Sedo and tell them to lower the reserve.. Ive just done this with Aus.tv where I have a $950 bid, but my reserve is 1k..

Sedo said, they dropped it to $960 and then notified the 2 bidders..

Anyway it should be an interesting ending.

Thanks for the mention Ray. I'm surprised some of you .tv lovers would be so eager to accept 24k for stream.tv. Personally, I think it should and eventually will sell closer to six figures or higher.

I don't know what the status is as far as a premium renewal rate but If it's a standard yearly renewal I think the seller (who also owns digital) made a smart move by setting a high reserve.

As Claude mentioned, there is more and more buzz outside the domainer community regarding .tv names. Just today I saw another one advertised on television, gt.tv, redirects to Gametrailers.com but you see gt.tv all over the site and the commercial.

Remember you're not trying to sell to a domainer to make real money and $25k or even $75k is a drop in the bucket for a well funded startup or existing corporation. We should be thanking Philip Gross (registrant of both digital and stream) for not selling two of perhaps the best .tv names so low. Wake up people, STREAM, we're not talking about a babbling brook here.

I personally feel generics like that have a ceiling.. Im not sure what that ceiling is BTW, I just think its way under 50k... Other than a major business buying a name like that as an addon, I do not feel a major company is going to change their branding on the strength of a .tv domain name... Ok a startup is surely a potential client I guess..
No doubt they are 2 great domains and I think the owner has got some b@lls to walk away from those offers.. I wish him the best of luck.

aus.tv did not sell btw, but I have one more that did, just waiting on payment.

I disagree. I think it is generics such as these that will sell for "sky is the limit" amounts. They will break the glass ceiling. Since when do non-generic "brandable" domains sell for more than generics? I think if you go back through the history of domain sales the highest prices paid have been generic domains purchased by large corporations - none of which have changed their corporate name over the domain (except o.co, lol).

This is why you and I both know Gold.biz is going to make you some serious gold...:gn:

Its all speculation mate. Its just my take on those two names and as I posted before, I would of took the cash. I dont rate them that high myself.
Its a lottery most days and they are worth what someone will pay.

I agree with your assessment on gold.biz btw ; ) .. I chased this name and paid the bucks for it due to the current climate.. As soon as it gets over that STUPID 2 month hold at godaddy I will throw it into auction and take my chances.. Not a great week for Gold, but things should pick up in a few weeks time.

cheers

Things can be too generic. $32,000 for Digital.tv if it was a real bid, was very good imo.

Let's get the misnomer out of the way with big companies. I spoke to Scott Higgason years ago, and he said all the big TV and Media companies were aware of the .tv extension. Some liked it and some didn't. But no one was yet to find the extension.

I think Digital is a good name and it got a great bid. But that's why there is chocolate, vanilla and 100's of other flavors.

If you don't need the money you can wait 7-10 years for the perfect buyer to come along and buy iReport for $750k. Many domainers would be happy to get $1000 for it. We have seen an increase in reported .TV sales the last year but personally I haven't seen demand skyrocket. Yes, there have been sales but it appears most of my .TV buyers were investors so where are the .TV end users? There are many reports of .TV adoption but generally they aren't the types of domains which investors hold - merely brandables which the developer acquired reg fee.
